Trip to the post office today to post another small ebay parcel. Garden watered as we have not had any rain. The last few days Mr H has been chewing his leg and there is a small lump so guess what? Another trip to the vet. It is just where he has had an insect bite or similar and he has chewed at it. Steroid cream and a £69 bill. While I was on my way to the vet the lady at their companion surgery rang me to tell me that they had received the payment from the insurance company and that I owe £123 so I had a moan about the disputed amount and she said she would look into it. I do hope our surgery get it in the neck for not sorting it before now as it has been almost a month now, I was just waiting for the month and then I was going to write a formal complaint as I am fed up with the lack of action. This evening we had a man round to give us a quote for a new fence as the other one is way past its best and next doors shrub is not helping at all. He gave us a vague idea but will email us with a formal quote. I thought Mr LH was going to have a heart attack but he really doesnt have a clue about prices of things.Tomorrow I must do some ironing as it is stacking up and I think Mr LH will be running out of shirts soon. I hate ironing and do as little as possible so really looking forward to that.2

I don't know if this is remotely helpful as a comparison, @ladyholly, but we've just paid £250 for 3 x 6' wooden fence panels - the vertical 'feather board' type. This included fitting. We do have the builders already on site, so this probably meant that fuel costs were not included though.
F2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever
2) To read 100 books (36/100) 3) The Shrinking of Foxgloves 6.5kg/30kg

Thank you foxgloves. Unfortunately it will be a lot more because we want something much stronger as our neighbour has a very vigorous shrub that will destroy normal fence panels. That is why we need the new fence in the first place. The posts will also need replacing and concreting. There is also the fact in this area most things seems to be very expensive. Not sure why. Do do not have a high wage economy but there are quite a few wealthy people.

Mr SA is very unsteady on his feet plus he has very slurred speech so people often mistake him for being drunk.I bet your vets has £ signs in their eyes when they see you coming. I hope that disputed amount is sorted out soon, how annoying.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

We have had the quote for the fence. £1900!!!!
At the moment Mr LH is saying he will do it but we will have a chat later. Hopefully he will get a friend to come and help him as there is no way we are paying that. There are only 5 panels that need doing plus new posts and concrete.

No one has ever said anything about being drunk but I feel people looking. Yes I am sure the vets see £ signs when I walk through the door. This year has been ridiculous but I suppose that is the price of old dogs. The little one will need her tablets for the rest of her life but the vet dont need to see her again unless we are worried. Mr H has nothing going on except his leg which doesnt need anything further so perhaps things will calm down for a bit. I certainly hope so.1 -
A lousy night last night as little one had me up twice. Once at 4.15 and then again at 5.15 to go for a walk. I love walking in the dark with slippers, nightdress and coat. I am going to but a pair of pyjama trousers to just slip on for nocturnal walks as I think they will be the future with her. Due to the disturbed night I didnt wake up until 8am so have been a bit behind all day.I have planted some rosemary and more lettuce. Watered the garden, Cleaned a couple of kitchen cupboards, cooked a roast chicken dinner and usual dog walking. Thats enough for today or I will be exhausted tomorrow.I cashed out £5 on surveys and have sold a book with a bid on one that ends later this evening so a trip to the post office tomorrow and my usual trip to Mr S and A**i.1

Sun_Addict said:£1900 😱 Fingers crossed Mr LH and friend can do it and save you a lot of money.MrLH has decided that he is not fit enough to heave fence panels about and his mate has a persistent back problem so he wont ask for help so I am going to try to find someone else who can do the job at a more sensible price. Not been a good day health wise as I woke up having trouble breathing and that has gone on all day. Also one eye has been virtually closed all day and the other is part close which means I have to hold my neck at an awkward angle to be able to see which does the arthritis in my neck no good at all. Some days I just feel I am falling apart although I know things could be much worse. However I did get to the PO and did a load of washing. We got this months gas and electric bill and we have used slightly more of both than last month despite the heating being used less. ( Mr LH does feel the cold very badly). I think it is probably due to the extra washing and cleaning when Miss W was ill and vomiting and missing her mats when toileting and all the washing of her bedding etc after she was PTS. Mr LH has also had some very late (that should be early) in the days after we lost Miss W so more TV, lights and computer. Hopefully this month will be better. On the bright side Mr LH has done some work on the mootor bike trailer and hopefully I will be able to list it for sale this week. We wont get much as it needs a full restoration but it gets it out of the garden and will give us a few pennies for the loan.Trip to the vet this afternoon to get the little ones anal glands emptied. Thats another £20 gone but after getting stroppy they are working on the discrepancy and despite being told there would be several weeks wait for her vaccinations as there is a vaccination shortage she has an appointment for next Tuesday. I pointed out that as she will have ongoing appointments and drugs I was concerned that the insurance co. would get funny because one of the questions they ask is about vaccinations and a health check within the last 12 months.Having difficulty stopping Mr H from licking his leg. I did bandage it but he was having great difficulty walking and nearly fell down the stairs twice. It is in a really difficult place as it is just on the joint on his back leg where he bends it so will just have to keeps an eye on him.Well I had better go and see if there are any surveys I wont get screened out of.1

Repotted a few plants this morning as they were getting a bit big for the small pots they were in. While I was in the garden Mr LH came to the back door in his shirt and boxers
to tell me the phone was ringing and didnt I ever answer it. Actually no because I cant hear it in the garden and I dont have pckets so my mobile was on the coffee table. Anyway I checked the number which was unknown but as they had phoned both the land line and my mobile I rang back to find it was the other branch of the vet. They have sorted out the discrepancy and it turns out they hadnt included a couple of items on my original claim so I was right and they do owe me money. Anyway they have sorted it out with the insurance company to pay me directly so hopefully that will be here soon. This will be repaid to the sving account which is looking quite poorly although I did put £15.00 in it from surveys. There was also £15.00 from ebay sales which went to the loan acount. In addition I have sold 2 books this evening, one is paid for but I am waiting for the other one.
Just after the vet rang I had a call from Sky offering an upgrade for less money so I accepted that and we will be getting a new at the end of next week. Its only about £3 difference but it gives a better service and our box was getting a bit iffy anyway. The downside is we will need a new remote as we have two TVs in the lounge. Sounds silly but you cant see the TV from one end of the room to the other due the shape of the room.Dog news the little one hasnt been eating well partly, I think, due to missing Miss W and partly due to her tablets so today I tried warming her food slightly (she is now having all wet food and a better quality one as she wont touch kibble at all) and she ate most of her breakfast and polished off her tea in very short time so hopefully that will solve the problem. They both had a lovely time in the park today as there were two of their friends there to play with. Well the little one doesnt play much now butshe does enjoy seeing them even if she gets stroppy when they are too lively.
Usual trip to Mr T this afternoon. Thought I would see if there was any veg oil for the car but there was only 1 litre bottle so no luck there but I will keep my eyes open. We still have some but MrLHs festival season is coming up so he will need a fair bit of diesel for that as they are in various parts of te country.
Tomorrow another visit to the PO and I want to try and get anothre dog bowl for the little one as we use stainless steel ones and if she is going to have her food warmed I need one that will go in the microwave and I havent got anything suitable in the house.2 -
Not been around for a day or two but then there has been nothing to report.I have had a couple more books sell and there are bids on some others which will finish tomorrow so there will be more in the loan account next week.I went into town and got some pigs kidney for MrLH who loves them so he had a couple last night and the others are in the freezer for another day. None of the supermaarkets sell them so he has to wait until I feel well enough to make the trip to town as we have no local shops that I can get a bus to.Another trip to the vet with Mr H and to pay the bill for the little one as we have got the refund. This trip was largely due to MrLHs paranoia so another £70 but to be fair that included his flea and tick treatment. When we got there we had a lovely surprise because the vet we saw was one who worked there when we first had the little one. She is very good and we both trust her. She did query whether the steroid cream we had for Mr Hs leg helped and when I said not really she just said right with a little smile so I got the feeling she didnt approve of the cream for his problem. Anywaylots of good advice and it now seems to be improving.Off to the pharmacy in a few minutes to collect my presciption which is, unfortunately in completely the opposite direction from anywhere else I need to go so posting parcels will have to wait till Tuesday fortunately being the weekend and a bank holiday I have until Wednesday and I will post Tuesday when hopefully the other books will be paid for.Enough rambling for now as I must get on.2
