Sorry to anyone reading this that I have not posted. Not a huge amount to report. Did well at the weekend as we sold the trailer and some books. I wont transfer the trailer money from my bank account until it has been collected on Friday just in case there are any problems. I have cashed out £10 from surveys. This money sits in my paypal account to cover the donation I make to a local dog rescue each month.

Spending this month has been far too high mainly in the supermarket but I have stocked the cupboards and freezer a bit and bought some stuff for Mr LH to take to the first of his festivals this year.  I get a whole 5days of peace and can spring clean the house while he is away. I know! Its  a sad use of the time but it really needs doing. I have also bought 6l of veg oil for the car. It  has risen in price quite a lot but is still cheaper than diesel and on checking i got 2 x 3l bottles cheaper than the 5l bottle so happy with that.

I have also paid the last of the outstanding insurance excess of the little ones claim. Obviously as she is on tablets for the rest of her life there will be more but at least we are up to date for now,

I am visiting my BiL tomorrow so that is more money spent approx  £32 railfare and about £10 for fish and chip supper. We have a portion between us as they are quite large  and Mr LH has a battered sausage. My senior rail card will need renewing before next months visit.

I have applied for the £150 council tax rebate but not heard anything yet.

The garden isnt doing too badly as I have courgettes, lettuce, spinach, chard, tomaatoe and cucumbers all growing nicely. Whether they will produce is another matter. I have cut some lettuce and chard but the rest are all babies ye

Back from my trip to BiL. It was good to see him and he is looking well so I think as he spends a lot of time gardening it must be good for you at whatever age (he is almost 90). More books  brought back to put on ebay. There are one or two that are so old they have no publish date on them. I had a quick look for one of them on the train and can find no trace of it. Not sure if this is good or not. Anyway guess what I shall be spending time doing tomorrow. The trains worked perfectly and I arrived home dead on time. Well done Southern Rail and GWR. The best bit was the changes have altered and I now change in Bath rather that Bristol Temple Meads so I dont have to change platform which is much easier with a suitcase full of books. I will say the trains are noticeably getting busier every time I make the trip.

Aghh I meant to open my little mini greenhouse before I left this morning but forgot. I have had a very quick look this evening and all looks ok but will check properly in the morning - I didnt fancy standing out in the rain looking.

No money saving today but There is money to transfer to the loan but I want to make sure my buyer is happy with the trailer before I do it.

A quiet evening now to finish watching the repair shop and then sewing bee, walk Mr H at 10pm, a quick cup of tea and bed.  A recovery day tomorrow with not much getting done.

I think keeping yourself active is key. I was talking to a local chap who has just acquired a puppy after losing his elderly dog, he’s 92 and walks a lot.

Well today has been a bit of a shocker. We were just having dinner tonight and there was a knock on the door. It was the son of a friend who although she lives near us we havent seen for a long time as her partner had made visits impossible. (Anti vaxer, flat earther etc etc).  He had come to see his mother and while her partner was not around she spilt the beans that she has been terrily mentally and emotionally abused and was too frightened to tell anyone. I suspect there was financial abuse as well but he didnt say. Her son has immediately packed up her stuff (she doesnt have much) and took her to another family member who lives locally before taking her back with him tomorrow where he will get her settled with his family before finding her a home local to him. We are shocked beyond belief as we had assumed that she wasnt interested in seeing us as I had made attempts to get her to us. I now wish I had been more persistent as I may have twigged there was something wrong. Hindsight is wonderful isnt it. We are both feeling somewhat guilty now.

There has been no money spent today and the trailer has been collected so that money can now be paid to the loan account. I have been trying to do surveys but have been screened out of so many I got fed up and closed the site for today.

I need to get a couple of cohesive bandages tomorrow as Mr H has a lick granuloma and although he wears a soft collar he cant wear it at night as he is up and down stairs and he really cant see where he is going so is in danger of falling down the stairs.

I have a flower on one of the courgette plants and buds on the others but something is eating my cucumbers. Not impressed. I have put eggshell around them but its not stopping

Sun Addict  I do hope there is a back up plan for the puppy so that it is not dumped imto rescue if anything happens to the gentleman. That is one of the reasons we are unlikely to have another dog after the little one and Mr H die unless we can find an oldie who needs a permanent foster to see out its days.

How awful about the friend, I hope she will be safe now. Yes the elderly gentleman only got the puppy because his daughters have promised to take it on should anything happen to him or his wife.

Thank you. I am sure sure  she will be safe now as her son will look after her and they live a long way from here.
I am glad they have thought ahead about the puppy.

Forgot to say that other news is that youngest granddaughter has split up with her boyfriend and is moving into a house share on Monday.

Bought 3 cohesive bandages for mr H and have done a load of washing and got it hung up. Now sat with a cup of tea and doing a meal plan and shopping list for next week.

All this frugality is definately rubbing off. Today i put some carrrots that were past their best in the freezer. They were bought for the dogs but they seem to have gone off them even when fresh so now they are mine. A piece of potato cut from a large one that would have been too many for todays roasties have also gone in the freezer and I have started to use the boiling water from veg to make MrLHs gravy. He has gravy with almost eveything so I use gravy granules for simplicity,

No spend day today. The garden is going well but the cucumber plants keep being eaten which is disappointing. I have put egg shell round them as recommende by someone but they are not being vey effective so I will add more as I use the eggs to see if perhaps there aren't enough down
    .
2 books sold on ebay or at least there are bids on them and they end later this evening so those will be posted in the morning assuming they have been paid for.

Nothing else today as I have been very tired for some reason.

What a shock to find out about your friend.  I suppose lockdown gave exactly the right conditions for coercive control.  Thankfully her family have rescued her and it's good that they told you or you might have assumed she was avoiding you now that she has moved away.

you are doing well with your sales and really making inroads into your loan - less than a year to go now.

using the veggie water for gravy is probably adding nutrients from the veggies into the gravy - good idea - money saving and healthy.

I always use the veg water to make gravy for DH and @Blackcats is right it does add some nutrients.  It's definitely money saving as no need to boil the kettle!
