I thought of you when I heard about Paul o'Grady as I remember your connection to his show. It's sad news and he seemed a very genuine person - a shock for his loved ones too.
good news on the garage door.3 -
Very sad about Paul O Grady.
Great news about the garage door though, and even better that you have the cash."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2 -
Evening all. Money matters :surveys have received £40 in payouts this month and have cashed in £5 for April but not received yet. 1 ebay sale ccompleted and a bid on something else. Overspent on groceries but I was probably too optimistic with the budget. It is very difficult as Mr LH varies so much in how much he will eat. At the moment he is having supper at some stupid time in the early morning and he tends to have things like pasties, hot dogs and instant mash etc. These are all branded stuff as he wont compromise on them so are obviously pricier than supermarket stuff. In a week or two he will go off food so hopefully will be able to regain some money.Bear has in general been dong well until today when he has not been good. He barked andd lunged at a van first thing and this afternoon he did the same with a couple who wer walking up the path while Mr LH was doing some long line training. He wasnt even close to them and we cannot figure out why. He has also been doing his tractor impression and pulling a lot. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. The weather seems to be improving so hopefully I will be able to carry on with the fence and possibly get it finished this week. It is a little easier now as I am standing on concrete not gravel so not unbalanced as much.Plants. I have 9 baby tomato plants and 4 cucumber plants. There are signs of lettuce and carrots coming up. As an experiment I have planted a few tomato seeds in the min greenhouse and will see what happens. I suspect it will still be too cold even here in the balmy west country. There is no sign of the courgettes that are in the bedroom but I live in hope.I think thats it for now. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.3

New garage door fitted and looking much better. I just have to remember to step back after opening it as it rises on its own and if I dont I will get smacked on the chin. I have painted a first coat on the remains of the fence on one side of the garden and should be able to 2nd coat it tomorrow. I also need to start putting stuff back in the garage. Hopefully Mr LH will sort out what he doesnt want and is to go to the tip. When painting yesterday I had to move the mini greenhouse and discovered the plastic cover has torn so I have ordered a new one which should be here in a few days. Note to self dont leave it out int frost and snow as I think thats what has done it. A lesson learned. 2 parcels to post tomorrow and then shopping so by tomorrow evening I will be fit for nothing if everything gets done. Although it was a beatiful day I couldnt paint today as Bear would have spent the whole time barking and I dont want to annoy the neighbours especially as he has a very high pitched bark.Bears enclosed field day today and he had a wonderful time in the large muddy puddles. He wasnt so keen on coming back so I could clean him off a bit before he went in the car.Its a good job we allow plenty of time to pack up and clean him off. Hopefully the puddles wont be so bad by next week. I am going to get him a paddling pool for the summer as he likes water which strangely none of our other dogs have. He has slept most of the afternoon after running up and down the field for about 40minutes.Thats it for this evening. Have a quiet night.

Sounds like you've had a really productive few days. Hope DH gets on with the sorting."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1

Out to the PO first thing but their system was down (again) so that was a waste of time. Finished the fence and by that time it was time to get Mr LH up and then dog walks. When that was done a trip to Tes** and a different PO followed by a brief stop at dd to drop off an overlocker which someone has given her. I am now officially shattered and aching. Prices at the esupermarket continue to rise and although we are doing ok at the moment it is worrying. Baby plants in the bedroom are watered and seem happy. There may be the first sign of a courgette. No painting tomorrow as it is supposed to rain so will concentrate on putting stuff in the garage and putting the garden back together where weeds at the bottom of the fence have been pulled and left on the ground, pots moved to paint behind them and a pile pile for the tip started. All assuming it doesnt rain too hard. If I can get the garden looking decent I will be happy as stuff is all over the place at the moment.Thats it for now. Sleep well.3

Very happy today. My new payment on my NHS pension is going up by £30pm despite paying more tax as well as my state pension ring by £15pm which will all mitigate nearly all the price rises.
Almost everything is back in the garage just waiting for mr LH to sort the last bits hopefully I won't be waiting much longer. If he doesn't do it there is room in the garage for me to just chuck it in as it is.
Lawn cut but only on the highest height as it is still wet underneath. I am hoping to get the shed moved tomorrow and then I can finish sorting the garden out.
Seedlings are coming on well and have bought some more compost to do more planting. I thought the courgettes have started sprouting but they haven't so will have another go. New cover for the mini greenhouse has arrived and is on so I will be able to use it again.
Lovely weather today but going downhill again next week. Shame as Bear is going to his first ever festival for a few hours on Wednesday. His walking is slowly improving although it is a bit two steps forward and three back sometimes. He is enjoying seeing his dog friends. We have found he can detect cancer. Our friends dog has it and Bear was very interested in the site and seemed very concerned. The little one could also do it and found another friends breast cancer before she knew she had it. Clever animals dogs.
A happy Easter to all.5 -
One of my friends dog kept sniffing her chest area and she found a lump, luckily caught very early and she’s been clear several years. Our dog kept sniffing Mr SA’s head before he was diagnosed with his brain tumour. They are very clever indeed.Great news about the extra pension 🥳I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3
