So sorry to hear about C, you worked so hard with him, and did your absolute best. You have done the right thing though.
I hope you have a relaxing weekend after your tough week."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
It sounds like C was badly treated by his previous male owner and collies have long memories. It took a long while before my gran's rescue collie stopped going for the male visitors. I hope you find a more relaxed friend for Mr LH.1

Thank you both. What worried us was that he was only growling and making threatening moves when Mr LH was lying down. If he had decided to escalate while Mr LH was asleep he wouldnt have stood a chance of protecting himself. Also he only did it when I wasnt there. It has as you say been a horrible week and we feel we have let C down by returning him not to mention missing him like mad because he was a very loving dog except as above even if very hard work. Keeping him downstairs wasnt possible as he tried to tear holes in the door while he was confined downstairs after his castration.

We had a rescue cat years ago that hated men. He used to hide whenever Mr SA came in the room. This cat also attacked me when I fell asleep on the sofa one night and Mr SA had to stop him.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Onto today. I hd a lie in until 08.15, not something I have done for a long time. When I got up and saw the weather I was quite glad I hadnt rushed. Very frosty and foggy. The frost hasnt gone from the garden all day. Quite a productive day as have cleaned the glass doors of our two display cabinets plus the patio door into the conservatory. It doesnt sound much but for once I did a thorough job including the surrounds. I have also made a start on cleaning the bookcase but then Mr LH got up so cleaning stopped. A couple of items listed to start tomorrow on ebay and updated my accounts. No money spent and tomorrow I will continue with the bookcase. Everything seems to take much longer these days so how much more will get done I dont know. I must also do the delay repay form tomorrow. When the weather gets a bit less cold I will have to clean the other side of the patio window but the conservatory will need a very good clean before the warmer weather anyway. We dont use it in the winter as it gets very cold in there. My aim is to get the house properly clean before the warmer weather so I can spend time in the garden and hopefully with a new dog. I dont feel it has had a really good clean for a long while but it will all delpend on my health but while I am not walking dogs I should have a bit more energy for other things.Mr LH seems a little better today which is good and is now definitely thinking of another dog.Thats enough rabbiting for today. Have a peaceful evening.3

Quiet weekend Mr LH got up about 3.15 yesterday with the words why didnt you wake me? Reminded him he had said to leave him so I did just checking occasionally that he was still alive. Instruction today was to wake him at 11.30. He was just sitting at the computer with his first cup of tea when a friend called and he didnt get breakfast until 3pm.I am about half way round giving the lounge a really good clean but nothing done today after a trip to the PO with a heavy parcel. I should get some more done tomorrow including cutting the net curtain down where C ripped it. I am hoping there will still be enough width so it looks ok. It should be as for the time being the torn bit is all pushed right to the end of the window. That will save getting a new one and while its down it will get a wash. I am leaving the curtains until the weather gets a bit warmer or I will never get them dry. I do hang them damp but I think at the moment they will stay that way for a couple of days. While at the PO I did call in at the charity books and got a couple of books. They had a nice leather settee (we desperately need a new one) but it was cream and just would fit in with the rest of the furniture. I will keep looking.Mr LH has decided we need a DVD/ CD player as at we dont have one but do have loads of discs. He found one for £40 and it was ordered yesterday and arrived today. He has plugged it in but not tested it yet so hopefully its OK. I must say I was surprised it was so quick delivered by E*** even if the driver just dumped it by the door step. I am glad it wasnt raining. We are looking for another dogs but at the moment fairly casually. The friend that called knows of an older collie belonging to someone who isnt taking it out, has no garden and the dog is just pacing around the flat obviously stressed and unhappy. It is also very thin which it wouldnt be for long if it came here. She is going to try to persuade him that he needs to give it up. I am not entirely happy at that because we dont know what issues it may have and there will be no rescue back up so we could get stuck with an unsuitable dog. He also need vaccinating and neutering. On the other hand there would be no adoption donation. I would want to meet it before saying yes and I dont know if that could be arranged. No cooked dinner tonight as MrLH was so late having breakfast so just sausage sandwiches. He will probably have supper at some stupid time in the night.Life at the moment seems to be we will see what comes up which is a bit frustrating. Anyway I will shut up now and wish you a goodnight.4

Been awol for a few days as nothing much to report really. Monday out to the PO to post parcels and the same again on Thursaday. Weekly shop on Tuesday and Wednesday I finally made it to see my bil. The trains were late but only by about 15mins and the ones coming home were largely to time. I have had a notification that I will receive a partial refund on the trip from the week before. I just have to wait a few days before it arrives. I have also claimed for the 15mins late on Wed.For the last couple of weeks I have been having trouble with my arthritic knee and then Thursaday the pain moved to the back of my knee. By last night it was extremely painful to the point I could barely walk and I got very little sleep. I rang 111 this morning and the dr thinks it is a Bakers cyst. The only treatment is rest, ice, compression and elevation so the house cleaning has come to a stop. This wouldnt be so bad but we are going to look at a dog tomorrow. This time we will spend a fair bit of time with it and make sure we take it for a walk. Fortunately I have a pair of crutches which will mean although I cant actually walk him I will be able to accompany Mr LH at least for part of the time. He is still with his present owners which will give us a better idea of how he is at home. He is an anxious dog so we arent entirely convinced but feel we have to at leats visit him. I will write a bit more about him if we decide to take him.It has been an expensive time as I have booked to see the Lion King in June and My Fair Lady next month. I am also debating Annie with Paul O'Grady in November. My bil has already been to My Fair Lady as the tour gets to him before me and he says it is one of the best productions of it that he has seen since the original which he saw many years ago. My dd is coming as well so that will be a nice outing that we havent had for a long time. She will pay me back for her ticket and I still have the cheque that my bil sent me for Christmas to part pay for the Lion King so a fair bit to come back. He haseven given me the programme for My Fair Lady so that is £10 saved.Surveys continue and I have cashed out another £5. I must check my paypal account as I dont keep too much in there but use it for our monthly charity donations so usually have 2 months worth in there. I think that just about sums up this week.Have a good night.4

Sorry about the knee and hope tomorrow goes ok with the possible dog.
Theatre trips sound good. We are booked to see The King and I in April. I love Lion King. It is one of my favourite stage productions. I have seen My Fair Lady too. Nice to get back to doing theatre shows after the terrible few years they have had since Covid.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards.
