It's so satisfying getting rid of stuff, @ladyholly. Well done on the scrap. Also all the sales.....they all add up. I sold oodles of music when we were clearing out our old family home - none of the items went for big amounts, but all contributed to a decent eventual lump sum I was able to split with my sister. It was also nice to think of our parents' possessions finding a new home.

Thank you foxgloves. When Mum died my sister had most of it as she had a much bigger house and she was going to car boot much of it. I was still working full time plus and did shifts so couldnt. She only did a couple and then I think it got too much for her so some of it is now come to me along with some of her stuff as my BiL doesnt want it. The odd thing is that some things seem to have disappeared. Of course it may be somewhere in their house still but I will only find that out when my BiL dies as I understand that other than some charity bequests I am the sole beneficiary. Of course he could change his mind or need to have care and that could eat it all up. Please understand I am not wishing him dead but he is 90 in December and he talks quite freely of his ultimate demise and the arrangements he has made.

Talking of my BiL he rang me this afternoon to tell me he has managed to cancel the DD on his gas account and cant work out how to get it back. Normally I would have been going to see him on Wed but thanks to the train strikes I wont be able to go until next week. I cant go Tuesday as the little one has a vets appointment and the vet that wants to see her is only there on Tuesday. I was going to go tomorrow with very short notice but fortunately he has a lovely neighbour who will help him tomorrow. It would have been difficult for me as one of the ebay parcel has to be posted tomorrow and I wouldnt have been able to do it so I would have been in trouble with that and I dont really want problems with them.

Today has been a very lazy day but I have done a bit more listing on ebay and sold one item. We had a roast chicken dinner tonight after a bit of a panic as it hadnt defrosted. Arent microwaves useful.

Nothing else to report today except when todays money from ebay goes into the bank tomorrow I will be able to pay another £10 to the loan. It is still going down.

Hope you all had a good weekend.

It is odd, I agree @ladyholly, when one is clearing out parental/family member's home & there are things missing. In our case, it was some of my Mum's jewellery, including her gold wedding band, gold & diamonds engagaement ring, a silver celtic-style amethyst pendant & heavy silver bangle. Her rings were tight so she didn't wear them but she had a jewellery box, from which they were missing. We searched the entire house, even under the carpets but didn't find them. Two options here really....either she sold them to one of these "We buy your gold" type places, probably to raise money for her church charity or due to my parents' lax security, the dodgy guttering cleaner or other workman reached through an open bedroom window or slipped in to have a look while they were otherwise engaged. Could have been either. I'd have thought she'd have mentioned her intention to sell her rings, though in case either my sis or I wanted them.
So it is a mystery that sadly, we never solved.

Spent this morning doing some cleaning - that surprised the house. This afternoon we qwent to the tip, T**** and the vet to collct the tablets for Mr H. On the way home the car radio died. Mr LH was very fed but after we got home he managed to get it working again. Little one was at the vet late afternoon ( a different one to Mr H) and had blood test to see what is going on with her kidneys. The good news from the urine sample is there wa no protein in it. THe bloods will take a couple of days to come back. We also collected her tablets so now the kitchen looks like a vets pharmacy.

With all the coming and going I am shattered tonight (no pm nap) and am looking forward to my bed. Going to watch Michael Palin in Iraq and hopefully stay awake. Then last dog walk and bed.

    Good Evening.
After shopping yesterday I realised I had forgotten sweet potato for the Collie. It is supposed to help his stomach.so out briefly this morning to get some and then boided and mashed it for him. I have booked seats to see Swan Lake at our local theatre with my DD in November. It will be lovely as we havent been out together for a long time. I have also got through to our volunteer transport people for a lift to the hospital for my eye operation near the end of the month. It will cost £30 but that is a lot less than a taxi would be. Mr LH will pick me up afterwards. As I dont know how long I will be there it works out better than him taking me and hanging around for ages in a place where they dont let friends and relatives wait so he would be stuck n the car and there is no car parking so he would have to find somewhere or comiing home and possibly having to turn straight round and going back.

We got soaked taking the dogs out at lunch time. When it had stopped raining I moved a couple of pots which only have soil in them because Mr H keeps eating the soil. A quiet afternoon other than that.

Nothing to report on the money side.

£20 to the loan account this morning otherwise a no spend day.
I made a couple of cottage pies and the same of steak and kidney pies this morning which all went into the oven together and then into the freezer when cold. The cooking was ok but there did seem to be an awful lot of washing up which took me ages. I am a very messy cook. Everything seems to take me so much longer to do as I get older.

A load of washing done and is drying in my bedroom as usual. One of Mr LHs jumpers is hand wash so that was done and put to drip on the table in the garden. Shame it rained and I forgot it was out there so it is now just as wet. I wil leave it out tonight and hope it doesnt rain. There is none in the forecast so keeping my fingers crossed.

We still havent had to turn the heating on at all and I am still wearing short sleeved tops. Mr LH complained he was cold last night but refused to put the heating on. He is learning.

Congratulations to Liverpool for winning eurovision. It just a real shame it cant be in Ukraine where it should be.
    Have a good evening.

Swan Lake with your DD sounds lovely.
I keep getting confused with Mr LH and Mr H and found myself a bit worried that your hubby was eating soil in the plant pots 🤦‍♀️

I would so love to see Eurovision live in Liverpool but will have to be content with watching it on TV. Yes it’s a shame it can’t be in the Ukraine 😡

My mum was a ballerina in her youth and tried relentlessly to get me to see a ballet. Eventually I relented and went to see The Nutcracker with her - I loved it 😍

My first job was a mothers help in Cheshire. My employer asked me one day if I would like a ticket to see Margot Fonteyn in swan lake in Manchester. I nearly bit her hand off. It was wonderful even though it was in Fonteyns later days of dancing. That was in 1969.

I love ballet.  I saw Nureyev in Swan Lake - utterly extraordinary.
