What have I done today? The answer is very little. Took the little one to the vet and she has been given frusemide which we have tried before and it was detimental to her kidney function although it did stop her coughing. She has another appointment next week for a review and blood tests. She appears so well (except for the coughing) we can almost forget she is not healthy.

I have changed the beds and done two loads of washing. Changed Mr LHs quilt to his winter one and I now have a blanket on my bed. I am still is short sleeves but do need a jacket for early morning and late evening walks and the doors are closed after dinner. No heating yet but Mr LH did have a hot water bottle last night.

Cheese and potato pie for dinner which I dont do too often so it made a change.

Mr LH in a bad mood today as he is fed up with there only being one topic on the news programmes. Whilst it is important to report it the media have really gone over the top and all the other things ln  when the world - wars, floods, rising prices, famine etc. are being largely ignored. I am wondering if the reporters are being paid by the word and how many members of the public they can interview with extra if they are crying. I am sorry if this offends anyone but really I dont need to know that Mr & Mrs Bloggs from Bognor has stood for 17 hours to pay her respects to the Queen and how upset she is.

Anyway after that rant I shall go and finish reading other peoples diaries and then settle in front of the TV. Have a lovely evening all.

I hope little one is ok.

I agree about the coverage.  I enjoy watching the ceremonial bits but the endless infill and speculation is too much.  The news should remain news.

I haven’t been watching the coverage but then I don’t watch much TV. It’s been a true gift for the media they’re loving it.

@ladyholly - I agree about the coverage. Of course there was always going to be a lot of it, it's a historic occasion, but there is so much blanket coverage that I think it has probably crossed the line into intrusive. I'm not wound up by the coverage per se, it's more the presenters who keep making statements about what the 'whole country' is feeling, 'everyone is in mourning', etc. I recognise that this is a historic occasion & that the the UK still has a lot of quasi-medieval pageantry & I feel perfectly respectful to the grieving family & members of the public who wish to partake in the lying in state. That's as far as it goes for me, though. I do not feel as though I am 'in mourning', I feel no personal sadness & I have no interest in endless vox pops from people on the subject. Just in case anyone finds this disrespectful, I should add that our family, friends & most of the people we talk to feel the same as we do. Certainly, people are not all 'of one voice', even though only one viewpoint is being represented at the moment. I'd intended to watch the funeral service only - I'd like to hear the choir, cathedral organ & choice of music - but I don't know if I will go ahead with it because I can't usually cope with royal commentators. I'll see how I feel tomorrow. Mr F thinks that the basics should definitely have been covered on the News (death, lying in state, proclamation of King, funeral etc) with everything else on a 'red button' service for anyone who wants to watch detailed real-time footage of the queue, vox pops from random members of the public, assorted royals doing walkabouts, etc. It has all just felt like way too much & I am uncomfortable with all the gawping at the family at what is a sad & difficult time for them.

Do you ever get days when the more you do the more you find needs doing. This morning has been one of those days. I actually acheived very little but spent ages doing it. I found Mr H had left his rather gruesome mark over the end of the hose pipe which was delightful. Load of towels washed and hung up. Little one taken out numerous times as she is on a diuretic, Sorry this post is somewhat toilet orientated. I aso managed to list some stuff on ebay. Roast chicken dinner cooked this evening.
Not much will be done tomorrow as I shall watch the funeral and processions despite my moan yesterday. I do like the pageantry etc its just the hyperbole that drives me nuts and airheaded reporters asking stupid questions. For much of the run up I shall probably mute the TV so I only hear the important bits such as the music and the service.
Foxgloves I agree that ome of the coverage has been far too intrusive on a family who are grieving. I hope they dont focus too nuch on the faces of the members of The Royal family during the funeral service.

I think thats enough moaning and pontificating for one day. Goodnight

I did absolutely nothing yesterday as I was glued to the TV other than making meals and dog walkiing. Mr LH nearly hrew the remote at the TV as there was nothing on that he wanted to watch during the evening and turned it off. Today it was general dusting, hoovering etc and then shopping this afternoon. I will have to go out again as I didnt do a proper list, I should know better. Has anyone noticed the price rises of toilet roll. I get a 12 pack which lasts a while but I know it £6 something last and was well over £8 today.

The loan payment went out of the bank today so only 2 more to go :D:smiley:
Not only that but the final payment will be slightly less.

Will finish there as a friend is due in a frw minutes. He is bringing some sort of cutter to see if it will cut the chassis of the trailer tent. It was a very well made thing and the welding on it is solid despite being very rusty.
    Goodnight.

The toilet rolls I buy have gone from £3.99 for 18 rolls to £5.99 in a matter of weeks (Little Duck). Lasts us just over 2 weeks for 3 adults.

I get ours from Mr T and they last Mr LH and I over a month. I have tried varios types but these seem to be fairly good value or st least they were. Did the Mr S shopping today. Prepared some spinach for the freezer and made cullen skink for dinner this evening and there is some for another day.

good news in the post today as Mr LHs car insurance renewal cam and it is about £60 less than last year. His insurance is quite difficult as not all companies will insure the car as it is a grey import.

The friend didnt arrive last night but did come this afternoon with a saw thing that will hopefully cut up the chassis of the trailer temt and then all we have to do is take the pieces to the tip. It is going to take some time as mR LH cant do a lot at a time as bending over it will hurt his back.

Cashed out £5 on surveys so there is enough in paypal for next months charity donation. Nothing else to report on money but there may be a little left over at the end of the month to go into the loan. I will see next week.

Have to go now as the little one is squeaking to go out. Have a good evening.
