You can wrap it around yourself to sit in the garden with a glass of wine or a cup of tea and feel snug and smug.
You can wear it to go out in Mr LH's car, which your inheritance bought.
It's nearly time for A Very MSE Advent again, you can wear it to the supermarket and swan around like 'yes I am a woman in a marvellous cape'
Please allow yourself something just to have a thing of beauty and know that your past self of many decades is smiling a satisfied smile x

Get the cape. You've been replacing lots of functional items which I'm sure give you pleasure, but you deserve something you desire that just brings you lots of joy."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Evening all.You are all tempters. I am still thinking about a cape and will keep you all posted.I have had a fun afternoon watching Mr LH being absolutely stunned by the number of tools he has. Just as I was cooking dinner he found another two tool boxes.
I could have told him if he had asked that he had far too many. The number of screwdrivers alone needed to be seen to be believed. This morning I had a pleasure of sitting in a queue for tickets for "The greatest Showman" which is coming to Bristol early next year. When I went on line there were over 8000 in front of me. I managed to get what I think was the last access seat in a run of nearly 2 months. I have just looked and it is sold out. I knew it would be popular but for a show to be sold out in under 9 hours I am amazed and will feel very privileged to have a ticket.Downstairs has been hoovered but other than routine stuff nothing else has been done.In the garden I have a rose in bloom and some fuschias have started flowering with the warm weather. Do we have seasons any more? I am wondering if we are going to pay for this with very cold weather at some point.Enough drivel for tonight. Have a good evening.5 -
Drivel? Excuse me @ladyholly, you are a bard. Especially if you buy at least one cloak- velvet cloaks in different colours may well be indicated. Love Humdinger xx4

I wish I was a bard. I am not sure I can justify one cloak let alone have them in different colours.Humdinger1 said:Drivel? Excuse me @ladyholly, you are a bard. Especially if you buy at least one cloak- velvet cloaks in different colours may well be indicated. Love Humdinger xx

Oh dear, we are all being naughty temptresses, are we not, @ladyholly. I think we'd all just love to think of you having a lovely treat just for yourself for all the hard work & worry you had over the house/land sale, etc. It would be much deserved. However, it is your money, your decision & you may decide you'd prefer something different. It'd be sooooo swishy though, wouldn't it? Sooooo velvety.........

Lady Holly,.....the thing with coats is, they can be used for y e a r s , especially a cape-type-cloaklet....
I have a hip length wool/cashmere cape/cloak i bought i think 10-12 years ago . i don't wear it often; its not the one i wear to work ( that's the Scandinavian duvet )and i am a gal that lives in jeans and trainers. i forget to wear make up and im inherently practical. But I can appreciate a nicely cut garment.
so once or twice each winter that black cloak, with the wide sleeves, allows me to wear my fancy black leather gloves, a showy scarf and you can BET i love wearing it.
sometimes a wee bit of indulgence is great fun.
do it!!

The sellout performance of the Greatest Showman requires a cloak. Leave it in the aptly named theatre cloakroom/coat store during the show. And a matching velvet bag .....?Alternatively how about a velvet shrug /wrap round the shoulders type thing that winter brides (other than Foxgoves) wear but there'd be no swishy swoosh with that.
your new blanket sounds lovely.1
