So sorry to hear about Bear.  You have done absolutely everything you can and more to give him a chance and a good life.  It was the right decision, though clearly heartbreaking.  I'm glad it was as peaceful as it could be.  Take care of yourself xx

    Evening all

Thank you all once again for your lovely supportive comments. It has been very strange today. I keep looking to see where Bear is and what he is up to. I have put away all his stuff mainly because I dont want to keep looking at it.

We have left his bed in case he visits. We have had glimpses of our other dogs after they died so we didnt want think he wasnt still welcome here. Yes I know it sound stupid but it gives us some comfort.

We went out for a walk this afternoon but did a slightly different route. There are now travellers on the green area where we walked Bear. He would have hated that so glad we dont have to deal with it. The police have been as well as the council but of course it all has to go through due process to move them on. They has been knocking on doors asking for water apparently. I dont know if anyone obliged. The people who live alongside the green are not happy as all this has been caused by the workmen removing the posrs that were put along all the edges of the green after the last lot we had and then not putting them back when they moved all their machinery further down the road.

As you can imagine my birthday was a wash out. Instead of a nice steak I had a chicken sandwich for dinner because I couldnt be bothered to cook.

The one bright bit of the day was I had a visit from dd and sil with some lovely flowers and amazingly an I pad from them and my dgds. I am stunned. I am hopefully going to theirs tomorrow for some help setting it up. I have never used an Aoole product and it is a bit different from the Android stuff I am used to. It was a lovely morning but rather overshadowed by the appointment later in the day.

I wish I could say no money has been spent but I paid for Bears appointment and cremation etc which was well over £400. Fortunately the money is their so no credit needed.

I will be going for a little walk later as I need to keep going. It is a bit warm at the moment so will leave it for an hour or so.

    Have a good evening.

    Glad your family visited.

We've often felt our boy and a visitor recently asked about the big white dog so clearly he's come with us to the new house  <3  hope a happier,  calmer bear pops in to see you soon

Leaving Bear's bed out for him doesn't sound silly at all, @ladyholly. I can't tell you how many times I've glimpsed little flashes of long-passed, much-loved cats on route through the kitchen towards their cat flap & Mr F says he has too.
