Evening allThis is going to be the hardest post I have ever written and please dont condemn us for our decision. Please believe me it has been very hard and not something we want to do. We have also found out that he had bitten someone with his previous owners which wasnt disclosed to us.While we were out with Bear this afternoon he bit someone as they went past us. Fortunately he didnt break the skin and the person was okay but shocked and angry. This is not the first time he has treid to bite someone but we have always managed to pull him away before. We cannot allow this incident to recur so we have made the decision to have him euthanised hopefully tomorrow. We cannot in good conscience rehome him, rescues wont take a dog with a bite history and to as he is only just, after over 2 years, really trusting us it would not do him any good to be rehomed again or for him to go into kennels. We have tried a muzzle before and so have the vets but he wont accept one and gets it off faster than I can put it on so that is not an option. We are both heartbroken but have to ensure the safety of the public and it could easily be a child next time. We have tried so hard with him and he has had a lot of training and behaviourist input but he is not consistently safe to be around people or other dogs for that matter. We worry that the next time he escapes and no matter how careful we are there is a good chance it could happen he would really hurt someone or someones dog.He will be cremated and brought home to be with our other dogs on top of the display cabinet until we go and then he will go with Mr LH. He will take the boys and the girls will come with me.I dont know if we will ever have another dog as we feel we have failed him and our at our age many rescues wouldnt consider us but time or circumstances may change that.My birthday has been cancelled.I hope your evening is better than ours.8

I am so sorry to read this. It is sad for you after all the hard work you have put in but you are absolutely doing the right thing for Bear, yourselves and the public. I am so sorry after all the love that you have shown him, the time, the patience..You have in no way failed Bear. However he was failed was long before he came to you & no one could have tried any harder than you have. Rest assured you are doing the right thing for everyone.Be kind to yourself.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. You haven't failed him. Usually a dog with a biting history would not get a second chance, you gave him that. You could not have done more for him. A horrible choice for you to have to make but an inevitable one in the circumstances.5

I'm so sorry, sending love to all three of you. Sometimes some hardships in life can't be overcome and Bear has had a wonderful loving life with you and Mr H, you have given him a much longer and happier life than he would otherwise have had.
Such a hard decision but you're doing the right and loving thing letting him go to his peace as A Good Boy x5 -
No one could have tried harder or been more patient with Bear. You have given him a chance he wouldn’t have had and a wonderful life with you. You are doing the best for him now and the safety and well being of others. Be kind to yourself xxslowly working towards being MF one small over payment at a time :T3
