Sun_Addict I think you woulds enjoy Shetland although when you will get time to watch it being such a busy lady I am not sure.jwil I used to use it in my car when I was still driving and it did help but it does need to be changed occasionally and put in a place where it doesnt get spilt as it is a pain to clear up.Evening allNot a lot to report again. I am hopeless in the cold or hot weather as I just want to hibernate so little gets done. I did go and buy some cough medicine for Mr LH as he was coughing a lot this morning and I thought would get in before he started complaining. He hasnt had any but its there when he wants it. I never take it as it doesnt do anything and costs a small fortune. I also bought dishwasher tablets as they were on special offer and I wasnt sure when the offer would finish. They dont go off anyway.I have finished watching Shetland and have started watching Call the midwife. I know its been on for years but have never watched it. I am fed up with the stuff Mr LH watches so trying to do my own thing for a bit.Lots of watchers on ebay but no bids on anything. They all end on Sunday evening so still plenty of time. I am keeping my fingers crossed.A cold damp foggy day today. I was very cold by the time I got back from shopping but soon warmed up with a cup of tea and a banana shared with Bear.Sleep eluded me until about 1.30pm but then slept ok not waking until 7am. I would have liked to have gone back to sleep but knew Bear would need to go out so got up and out for our not quite so early walk. I did have a good snooze this afternoon so caught up a bit.Off to watch Call the midwife.
Have a good evening.

Evening allI braved the cold in the garden today and pulled a few weeds up plus a litlle housework.I have sold a couple of items and had bids on 3 others. I hope for some more over the weekend but no matter how many watchers you have you never know. I will post them on Monday as one of the buyers was enquiring about other items so I will see if he wins anything and will be able to adjust his/ her postage costs.I have emailed my solicitor to ask if there is any way he can get the other solicitors to get their a*** in gear as I am getting fed up with the lack of action on their part. I have also expressed my displeasure at the land grab they may attempt if the drain isnt deep enough. They need access I accept but I would have thought a a standard road width near the back gate onto the land would be sufficient not taking so much of the garden. If the charity wasnt involved I would simply remarket the whole property and tell them to go forth and multiply but that isnt really an option as it probably wouldnt be worth as much as the developer has offered.Anyway the solicitor now knows exactly how I feel. Me blunt? Never!!
I am not very good at tactful even when I try.
On good news no money spent. I do, however need to order a black printer cartridge at some point.Have a good evening.3 -
Good for you, you've tried doing it the polite way to meet everyone's needs but yours.
Is it worth independently contacting the charity and playing the 'poor old dear' card to ask what exactly would occur if you just did nothing as 'it's all very upsetting at my time of life and all these official people keep saying its dependent on you but to be honest dear, I have a roof over my head so I'm inclined to just let you all get on with it, some of the others have said if I do that it might take years to be resolved but I'm sure you can find a solution what with the poor little kiddies/frail folk/sad animals etc'1 -
If this is a large charity I am surprised they are not already on it. Their reputation with respect to wills once they become public via probate is not that great. Leaving money to a charity is the only reason I would name a solicitor as executor.

It is a well known charity and and as you say the charity stuff is exactly why I am paying a small fortune to leave it to the solicitor to sort out.

Well done on the sales.
I'm not sure I'll ever be in a position to leave a decent inheritance, but your experience certainly puts me off leaving things to charity! I'll donate stuff while I'm alive instead."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Well done on setting out your thoughts on the situation you find yourself in with house/land/drain)developers/charity. I'm sure it's exactly the opposite situation your BiL intended when he set out to do a good thing for you and the charity.1

Evening allA very lazy day just some modest tidying and cleaning also some listing. One more item sold and a bid on another item. The news of the day is an email from the land agent. The cotracts has been finalised and he is hopefully coming here some time next week for me to sign it. I didnt realise but the landowners live all over the place so he is hoping to visit everyone in one day. I know one live in the same area as the house and land but I have no idea who the others are or where they live. I suspect that, like me, they have inherited the land. Then I just have to worry about the depth of the pipe but hopefully by mid February I will know. The contract still has to go to my solicitor for his approval and at least he knows in no uncertain terms how I feel about the access if it is needed.I have spent a lot of the day reading my Ann Cleeves book - Murder in my back yard and in between watching episodes of call the midwife. I said it had been a lazy day.Have a good evening.6
