    Evening All

The snow was largely gone yesterday morning as predicted and it was quite mild. Today there was a northerly wind which made it cold but we havent had any rain (very heavy yesterday) and the sun even made an appearance.

Posted a parcel this morning plus a bit of shopping for a disabled friend whose partner has just had an operation so isnt able to drive at the moment.

Car passed the MOT with no advisories so Mr LH is very happy. Not bad for a car 27 years old.

Saturdays washing is all put away. I was going to do a lot while Mr LH was out at the garage but didnt as I simply couldnt be bothered.

My eldest DGD sent me a picture of their new puppy. Its a Border Collie so I hope they are feeling energetic. I will suggest they do agility, flyball or something with him when he is older but at the moment he is only about 10weeks old and from an unwanted litter so put into rescue. I am very pleased they have taken a rescue and are going to take it to training classes once he has completed his vaccinations,

My youngest DGD has had an long awaited inheritance from her great granfather today. It was in trust until she was 21 and there was a problem on the paperwork when she first applied so very happy she has it at last.

There is no news from the solicitor re the contract on the land so I have no idea what is going on there. I will give them a few days and then mail them to see if there is any progress. The dig was supposed to start today but it cant go ahead until the contract is sorted.

Nothing financial today but my pension arrives tomorrow so so money swapping will take place then.

    Have a good evening.

Nice of you to help your friend, and good news on the car. I find there's a lot to be said for 'couldn't be bothered, so didn't'

A down day today as still nothing from the solicitor re the land contract and we have read that the land registry are going on strike with no end date. From what I gather it is to do with them being told they have to be in the office for three days a week. This kind of thing makes me angry partly  because it could affect the sales but mainly because it doesnt make any difference to the government, heads of civil service etc but has a profound affect to ordinary people who are trying to buy, sell property not to mention builders who are creating new properties as the government want. Until covid few people considered working from home now it seem everyone thinks they have the right to do so. There was a letter in the lawyers gazette (I think thats what it is called) which pointed out that office working has a great advantage  in overseeing the quality of work and training new staff. He is a lawyer working in property aand says the qulity of work coming from the land registry is deteriorating.  An interesting point of view. OK rant over.

I have been awake worrying about the land contract, what it will mean if the rising main isnt deep enough to mthe sale of the house etc etc since 4am this morning. By 10am I was shattered and so nothing got done as I needed to have a nap.

When I wake Mr LH Bear comes upstairs with me for a cuddle with him. I took my camera upstairs to do some photos ready for listing and then couldnt find my tape measure to get the size of the stuff I was photographing so that came to an end. If I go downstairs Bear follows me so I always wait in the bedroom until he has been cuddled enough so I couldnt even fetch a ruler.

In view of all that nothing useful has been acheived except checking the bank account and transferring a small amount into my oddments pot which will go towards Christmas. Oh yes and putting some cat litter around to hopefully help the condensation problems upstairs.

We have a visitor due any minute so I will finish here and hope tomorrow is a better day.

    Have a good evening.

I work for a government department and we’ve had to go in the office 3 days a week for some time so I don’t see why they shouldn’t do the same. We were just told we had to do it and no one felt the need to strike. Being in the office is much better for training and learning from more experienced colleagues. That’s if you’re lucky enough to be co-located with your team as teams are often spread across different locations and only meet virtually. However we were allowed to work from home before Covid a couple of days a week so it’s not a recent thing. The thing is since Covid proved our jobs can be done remotely the government downsized our offices on that basis and moved other departments in together to save money so there simply isn’t the space for everyone to go in more than 3 days. Personally I don’t need to be in the office to do my job as I work alone but it’s good to get out of the house as much as I love my WFH days.

Anyway I hope things start to happen very soon with the land contract, anything to do with solicitors or councils seems to be a long drawn out process.

By golly its still cold especially when out on the scooter. Generally I am warm but my hands get very cold. I am seriously thinking of getting some electric gloves for Bears lunchtime walk and going shopping. They probably wont get used very much so I will have to think very carefully to see if the expenditure is worth it.

I had to go shopping this morning for some milk and eggs but have only been out a couple of times this week so have not been tempted to spend.

Washing done this morning and hung up. Hoovered the lounge and collected up a pile of stuffing that Bear has leberated from a soft toy that he had for Christmas. I usually get him small ones which get destroyed in about 2 minutes but this is a bigger and it is largely whole so larger ones will be bought in future.

I did sleep better last night which after a couple of bad nights I was grateful for.

Have a peaceful night and hope your weather warms up soon.
