    Evening all

A lousy nights sleep last night. Went off ok but woke at 2am and then tossed and turned until about 4.30am. My brain was worrying about house and land sales although I know it is all out of my hands now. I will be so glad when wverything is sorted.

A trip to Aldi to get the things I couldnt find in Tesco. Things are improving there but it is still a bit hit and miss.

I have had a message from an old friend that she and her son are visiting us on Monday. As they live near where my bil did it will be a long journey for them. Mr LH is being difficult and moaning that he has nothing in common with her any more despite the fact she is the widow of his best friend. I am sure it wil be ok but in the meantime he is being very grumpy about it.

Out to the alternative farm shop but ended up not buying anything as although I looked for a tilll at the butchery section I couldnt see one so joined the very long queue at the normal till to be told it had to be paid for at the butchers. I wasnt prepared to queue again (the butchers were busy) having had a long walk through the garden centre where they drag you all round the building so I told the cashier they could keep the stuff and walked out. There was no sign anywhere that butchery had to be paid for seperately which would have been helpful. I really have no patience for that kind of thing. Obviously I am supposed to be psychic.

Dd and I am off to Mary Poppins tomorrow. My sil is taking us but in his wisdom he is picking me up at 12.30 for a 3/4 hour journey for a show that starts at 2.30. He is worried about traffic but i dont think it will be too bad so we will go for a drink in the bar first.

I have received the credit card bill and have come in well under budget but I did allow a very generous budget which I will leave for next month with Christmas on its way. I am only using it for groceries, dog stuff etc so will be able to keep a much beter eye on what I am spending.

Oh yes I did call at the charity shop and bought 4 books from my personal money so off to start the first one.

    Have a good evening.

That sounds like a plan then, @ladyholly. My Mum had a little 2nd-hand scooter after Dad died, as she never learned to drive. She rode her bicycle well into her 70s, but her myaesthenia could made her breathless when she cycled so she stopped. She got on well with her little scooter, apart from encountering way too many cars parked on pavements. I can't remember how much we got for it, but I do remember a young nephew driving it to the 2nd hand scooter shop (under strict supervision!) & selling it.
It's good that Bear gets on well with walking alongside a scooter. I wonder if he has done something similar before.

Hope you have a better sleep tonight.  Enjoy Mary Poppins - being dropped off early in case of traffic sounds like a very good reason to have a pre-show drink in the bar!

Mr SA’s scooter is more an off road one which is ideal for him taking the dog on the park so it sounds a better option for you. It’s not great for shopping or crowds though. Our dog loves to sit on his knee and ride along, people always comment 😆

    Enjoy Mary Poppins 🙂

Thank you for all your good wishes for Mary Poppins. It was excellent and both dd and I had a lovely time. Even the bus being delayed did dampen the mood.I was slightly peeved with people not doing as they are told and using the centre aisle to access their seats and instead making me move. I know when you book seats other than the disabled access seats it tells you to use the centre aisle. It a shame the theatre doesnt put a staff member there to direct people. In one case their seats were actually nearer to the centre aisle anyway but no they would rather use the side door to get into the theatre and make most of a full row move. Sorry grump over.

Yesterday I had an email re the land asking me not to sign the contract on the house until the drain problem is solved but can give no time scale as to when the work will be done. They have a meeting next week and might know more then.  I am very angry as they have been told that my developer is prepared to allow access anyway when they buy the house. I have thrown it all back to the estate agent and she is going to see what she can do. I have written to the land developer and he "appreciates my frustration". He has no idea. If I lived nearer I would be in his office banging on his desk. I know the problem is the water company and their lack of action but that doesnt help. What are these people paid to do?

On a more positive note I had a small sale yesterday which was posted this morning. Unless anything sells between now and Sunday evening that will be it until after Christmas.

It occured to me while I was out that the friends visiting Monday might bring Christmas presents so I got some bits for them while I was out and when I got home realised I had forgotten to buy milk despite it being on my list so will have to pop out in the morning. :#

£200 moved into savings and my credit card all paid. I will pay the council tax and water on Monday. I dont like giving them money until I have to.

i think you have now heard nough from me so have a good evening.

  • What impact would it have on your life/finances to sign the contract anyway?

It could stop the land development going through which would impact the charity and I don't know what they would do to recover their substantial bequest. The land development also  involves 2 other land owners. The very large pipe that is causing the issue seems to run right across my bils land and the two others right under where the access road will run.and the water company wont allow that in case of damage to the pipe unless the pipe is buried at a certain depth. They have no idea what the depth of the pipe is. They wont allow anybody but themselves to excavate so we all have to wait for them to do the work. As they have been totally unco operative this has apparently been going on for the last 8 months but nobody told me about it until 10 days ago. My main problem is because there is no time scale I am now stuck unless the developer buying the house and the one buying the land get together and agree access from the garden. The whole situation is ridiculous and caused by one water company who cant get their act together to dig a hole.

Do the charity know of the problem.  If it is a large national one they can be quite pro-active.
  • Ah, that is very annoying. Does solicitor have any advice on where you would stand with the charity should you just sell and let everyone else get on with it? Would be nice if they could take their share of the sale then their share of the land becomes a relationship between charity and land developer rather than you...
