Evening allBusyish morning. Lounge cleaned and stuff belonging to Mr LH put away or taht least dumped out of the way. A load of washing hung up in the bedroom. A couple of items are dry which is a start.Kitchen sort of cleaned briefly.Out with Bear on the scooter with a pumped up tyre. Hooray.Roast beef for dinner with all the trimming and a bottle of cava - well one glass for me the rest for Mr LH.I was just about to clear the kitchen from cooking and there werr firewoks being let off very close to us altough we arent sure where exactly. One very upset Bear. Fortunately there were only a few and he has calmed down now.Fireworks on 17th Why?Only 1 sale today for a very small amount. I will be taking everything off in the next week or two as I cant stand for long enough to cope with the long queues at the PO (if they are open). Yes I could get parcels collected but the postmaen dont have a regular time except it usually around the time Bear goes out. We do have the in post lockers nearby but I havent got a clue how they work and if my phone will open them anyway.Have a good evening.3

With the lockers you can type a code in instead of scanning your phone, they are quite straightforward to use and you can request a lower locker if any are too high up. I like them because there isn't any time restrictions like shops or post office and they don't tend to have a queue xxMortgage free 2021Debt free 2024

The lockers around here seem to regularly have issues with not being emptied regularly enough, or mix ups with the parcels, so it's not a risk I'd be willing to take. We use Evri as there are several different collection points near us with long opening hours."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Thank you Rudolf and jwil. I think I will still have a break. I have been listing like mad all year and to be honest I need a break from it. What I will do is to very gradually relist stuff to finish just after Christmas as I find that is sometimes a good selling time as many people have more time to look at ebay. That is when ebays calendar lets me schedule that far away.Evening allToday started well. I was up early and despite my idiot neighbour who has started parking his motor in his front garden and then riding it down the path I was far enough away to divert slightly with Bear so he didnt hear the engine start so no barking before 7am.Trip to the PO and I made it there before they closed the little counter they use outside busness hours so no queue and I was out before 9am.The estate agent rang at lunch time with some good news re the offers on the house but none of the developers who may be interested had been in touch. She said she would ring later but hasnt so I can only assume they still havent submitted their offers. Well they will get a shock tomorrow because I am going to tell them not to bother. I refuse to be messed about and they have missed two deadlines. I would rather sell to people who dont mess me about and want to keep the house as a family home even if their offer is lower.Out to the farm shop this afternoon but came home totally disgruntled. Went in and picked up some bacon and waited for the butcher to appear. No one did so looked for another member of staff but the place was empty. I could have stolen half their stock and they would have been non the wiser. Eventually a chap appeared and went to look for the butcher. She was not around so have been standing their for about 20mins we gave up and left telling this man that it was no way to run a business. Very annoying as Mr LH liked their black pudding but we wont be going back. I have emailed them and complained but I dont think anything will come of it as the family that run the place are not noted for being pleasant.A thoroughly miserable day weather wise but we are still on the warmer end of the country.Have a good evening.3

Interesting that the developers who should behave professionally haven't met the deadlines for submitting their offers - probably sets the tone for how they would behave throughout the selling process. I think it's very admirable to keep the house as a family home - and from what you say your sister and bil would approve.how annoying about the farm shop. We had to wait 10 minutes at b n q yesterday to return a faulty item. Only one checkout open and the cashier seemed to be on a walkie talkie for the whole time checking something. 2 other staff were directing people to self checkout but apparently couldn't help with the refund. Mr BC was seething and huffed and puffed for a further 10 minutes while we drove home 😡3

Yes my sister and bil would rather the house was kept as a family home. It does need a lot doing to bring it up to modern standards but it is a lovely house. Mr LH would love us to keep it but it is far too big for us and would be too much to take on the renovations.

I always take a break on selling in December too, much better to avoid all the postal madness and impatient buyers. I set my first ones to end on Christmas day as we always get a good flurry of sales, and no expectation of posting until after the bank holidays.
I wouldn't be waiting for developers either. Sell it to someone who wants the house!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Just bear in mind developers may be companies who have to make a decision over a board meeting rather than sat in the car after viewing. Also whilst I fully understand that you want to ensure that the property goes to a family there's nothing stopping them either "flipping" the property or indeed selling on to a developer. I'm just saying this so you aren't surprised if this happens - I know you didn't want to bother with an average agreement.

peb I take your point re developers but in that case they could at least give an explaination of any delays. I know that at least one is a big company but only found that out today. Yes a family could flip the property but I can only do the best I can to abide with what I know my bil wanted.beanielou There is very little that will wind me up faster that poor service and the farm shop have succeeded. They wont be getting my custom again.
