Out both yesterday and today with parcels. Post office open so all good. Used the scooter to get there but walked round the sm and stood in the p.o. It was quiet so I dont think people have realised its open again so only a couple of people in the queue ahead of me. The one snag with the scooter is I walk less which, although is good for my breathing doesnt help the arthritis as I sieze up quite quickly. I still walk Bear morning and evening but they are fairly short walks. I will figure it out.I havent gone into it on here before but when my bil died he was in the middle of selling some land at the back of the house. This wouldnt necessarily have been aproblem but the sale also involved 2 other land owners with adjoining land. The sale was supposed to be completed by September but obviously things have been delayed. However both the sellers and the purchasers are getting worried about delays which are likely to go on for a fair bit longer so they are asking to split the sale. This worries me as bil's / my land is the smallest parcel and thought they might back out of that bit but they seem to be happy to heve a sort of pre contract saying the sale would be completed by Dec. of next year. I just hope it can be. The soliicitor thinks probate should be granted by Feb although hopeing it will be earlier. The money from the sale is being treated seperately from most of his estate as the entire value is being left to one charity who were very good with my sisters final illness. It does mean the solicitors bill will be even more but I dont see a way round it. Its a shame I cant get the charity to pay it.I actually did some real cooking today and made a cottage pie for dinner. I usually just shove things under the grill or in the oven/ microwave as I find standing painful. ( Good grief does this women ever stop moaning?). There is a steak and kidney pie to make later in the week as well. I am going to try it with lambs kidneys as I cant get pigs.Covers are back on the suite in the conservatory now with a blanket where Bear tends to lie so they might stay a bit cleaner. I was going to do a little bit in the garden but the rain beat me to it so Mr LH had to walk Bear on his own a it was heavy. Another load of washing done and hung up - clothes this time.I thinks thats my latest boring day so have a good evening.4

Agree with Beanie your life certainly isn’t boring. I bet you wish it was at the moment 😆
Mr SA’s mobility has definitely declined since he got his mobility scooter so I would encourage you to do as much walking as you’re able to.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2 -
You never moan, you do loads and you do it when feeling like absolute rubbish. You're allowed to be disgruntled, it's not nice or fair at all for it to be painful for you to stand.
And it's not nice or fair that there's another layer of complexity for you to deal with what with this separate land sale. Don't sign anything making you liable for this next December date being contractual!
I don't know how useful it would be but maybe post about it in this section
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/house-buying-renting-selling
and maybe someone will have experience of similar or an idea about if the charity might contribute to get their share?3 -
I agree with the others. You manage your challenges very well. Hope you enjoyed the cottage pie!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1

Thank you all for your kind comments.PennysIntoPounds I dont think I have a choice but to sign a pre comtract or risk messing up the whole land sale not only for me but also for the other land owners. The purchasers have been working on the sale for over 5 years as the local council have thrown up difficulty after difficulty. I have spoken with the solicitor and he sees no reason at all why probate would not be granted in the next 15 months which is the proposed time scale from the purchasers. Keep your fingers crossed.

Evening allA lazy day.Listed a couple of items this morning but no sales on anything. I have made a start in trying to sort out what is listed and what isnt as I am getting confused. When I was packing stuff up to bring it here I packed room by room but some similar items were spread in several rooms so I am trying to get the categories together so I can sell them together, An example - a pair of pretty hand painted cups and saucers, One was in the bedroom and 1 in the lounge. I hadnt even twigged there were 2 until i found the second one. Also some boxes have stuff from more than one room so I think time spent sorting things might be worth while.Mr LH had a thought last night, I had already had the same thought but wasnt sure what to do. We switched the gas boiler off for the central heating and hot water in bil's house but with winter coming we dont want frozen pipes and water leaks. I got in touch with his neighbour and asked if he knew a gas engineer who could turn it all back on and check everything. He did and due to a cancellation an engineer was available this afternoon so he came out and rather than heating the house reccommended that he de-comissioned the boiler and drained the system including all the water pipes. He has turned the gas off as well as the water stop !!!!!! so as the house is unlikely to be used at all in the next 6 months we can be sure we are not going to get burst pipes or a gas leak. The only disadvantage is it will be cold for anyone viewing the property. No money spent today but we have noticed one of the D rings on Bears harness is wearing through the stitching so I need to see about a new one. I understand our local Pet shop sell the ones we use so will try them tomorrow. We use a double ended lead so his harness has to have two fixing points which was reccommended by the behaviourist his previous owners used. I loop his lead over the arrm rest on the scooter when I am walking him so to ensure his safety if the D ring came loose he had 2 leads on today. He actually behaved pretty well and even ignored a Royal Mail van. He does not like postmen and does recognise their vans, For that matter he doesnt like any vans and usually.tries to chase themAnyway enough drivelling for tonight. Have a good evening and if I dont get on here over the weekend have a good one.

I know nothing at all about what the best thing to do about the land sale is but I am feeling extremely wary on your behalf about you signing things when it's not your sale to be financially benefiting from. If the charity is getting the profit then can the solicitor not hand it over to them to deal with once probate is sorted? Please seek second and third opinions after your solicitor about making yourself contractually liable for something that has nothing to do with you.
That's great the engineer could come out and get that sorted. I'm sure house-viewers will understand the property is cold because its unused, they'll be getting the relevant certificates to show its all working. A relief to know you're not going to suddenly have a big house emergency to deal with in winter!
Hope you have a fulfilling weekend full of rest and listings 😊
