Sorry to hear about your worries about the car.
    Could the solicitor help?

  • This definitely sounds like you should ask the solicitor, they don't have a contract with you and it is bloody outrageous they're trying to ask a disabled non driver in her 70s to pay 2k for something that's nothing to do with you

I have emailed the solicitor but as I understand it a contract like this doesn't die with the person, I think we have decided to photograph it when we are at the house next week and put it on the selling place I use for silly money and see what happens. It will be a pain as I may have to go down and possibly stay overnight being reliant on the train. Mr lh is happy to take me but it costs at least twice as much and we have to take Bear which isn't fair on him as he isn't keen on travelling.

I would definitely speak to the solicitor first but otherwise selling for a silly price sounds best.  I can't see how they can force you to take on a contract that isn't yours.  What would happen if BIL didn't have any relatives?

Enjoy the Strike book, it's always nice to have a good bit of escapism!

Definitely need to speak to the solicitor about this.  You can't be expected to over your BIL's contract.  The contract was between him and the company and absolutely nothing to do with you.  I think they're just taking a chance that you'll just pay up.

I think the company are chancing it too. It’s not your problem you didn’t take it on. This is something for the solicitor to sort out.
