I’m glad Cats Protection fulfilled their original promise in the end. I will admit I haven’t warmed to them though and their initial behaviour was disappointing and should be called out 😠 Anyway thankfully it’s a weight off your mind, it was a hassle you didn’t need right now.

You deserve a few nice relaxing days now. Take care of yourself.

I'm sorry that I have only just caught up with your diary so please accept my belated condolences on the loss of your BiL.  You were always so kind and thoughtful to him.  I'm pleased that you have managed to make arrangements for his cat - that's a relief for you.
    take care of yourself.
  • It is very MSE to get things that need to be done, done!

I'm relieved to hear the cat will be taken good care of, I was also trying to work out how I could give/find the poor wee thing a home

You take as many breaks (and calories) away from the situation as you need to, this is all such a big lot to be having to sort out, especially when your brain and body are needing grieving time x

Ps.  Keep records receipts for things like this postage and additional travelling costs.  As executor you should be reimbursed reasonable expenses (which these are) from the estate before it is distributed

Glad to hear the Cats Protection have eventually stepped up. I think charities hound you when you give regular donations so for that reason we do cash donations. My MIL regularly used to do standing orders to various national charities and they preyed on her and caused her a good deal of upset so there are certain ones we avoid.

Our charity donations are either to small local ones or in cash. The only national one was several years ago and we  told them to leave us alone when they got persistent. To be fair to them they did.

    Good evening all
A busy morning today. I finished doing some listing that has been waiting a while. Then onto the dreaded ironing. It didnt take long but loathe doing it. The MSE bit was unplugging the iron before doing the last couple of things.Put it all away plus the washing that didnt need ironing.  Then I did a dreaded job. Several years ago we acquired a number of the old crates that supermarket use to use for their more fragile items to store them. The sides collapse so dont take a lot of room. Anyway they have been stored between the conservatory and the fence for several years and so were filthy. They were put there as the little one used to go up this gap so we used them to block the space as it was too narrow for her to turn and we were worried she would get stuck. Bear is somewhat bigger so he cant use the space. Anyway to get back to the point we want to take a load of boxes to bils house so we can start packing stuff which will come here when we can so I spent about 2 hours washing them all so we dont get all the muck in the car and I also liberated a certain amount of wildlife that had home in them.  I do have a lot of plastic boxes from when we used to do car boot sales and I was sell at craft fairs. By the time they were clean I had done enough for today except for walking bear.

Roast pork dinner cooked eaten and cleaned up and now I am planning on reading some of my book.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
  • That's a very productive job indeed, well done
