Spoke to my BiL last night to find he had been involved in a car accident. The van in front of him stopped suddenly. He managed to brake in time (not bad reaction for a 91 year old) unfortunately the car behind him didnt stop in time. The chap in this car is trying to blame the van driver with his insurance company but I dont think he will get far with that as they will say either he was too close to my bil or he was going too fast. However the upshot is he will almost certainly have the car written off as it is an electric so expensive to repair and I dont think he will replace it. He can use taxis with no problem as he doesnt go far or out much. It will add about 50% to my journey costs to go and see him. This morning I picked the last bit of chard in the garden to add to some spinach for Mr LHs dinner this evening. I had some chicken and a plateful of veg so all is still on track. I dont like roast potatoes so not having them is no hardship. The rest of the days food has been fine with overnight oats and strawbverries for breakfast and tuna salad with a sliice of wholemeal bread for lunch. We did have a slightly longer walk with Bear to avoid other dogs after he got very stressed that got fairly near to him. We also saw the dog that was involved with the incident with him yesterday and today. He was ok with it but it was a distance away. We dod however see it rush towards another dog who nearly pulled its owner off her feet. They obviously havent learnt much from the police visit. They did at least put the dog on a lead after this. We do worry that the dog will end up being put to sleep because it gets involved in a serious fight.Right must go Pottery throwdown is on which I want to watch. Hope you all had a good weekend.4

Hello ladyholly, I have been reading your diary and have now caught up. Your poor BIL, it must have been a shock to have been hit from behind after he avoided hitting the van and well done to him for his quick reaction to stop his car hitting the van. That's a shame about the extra costs for your journey to see him.
Well done with keeping to the new eating plan. I also have overnight oats and I find they fill me up until lunchtime. I cut down on sugar a few years ago and found it hard to start with but now I can take or leave a cake and most of the time I find them too sweet.
It's a pity that the dog owners do not keep their dog under control as it really isn't fair on other owners - it sounds as though there might be a few owners who are not happy.

Wow welcome but I hope you didn't find it too boring.
Yes I am finding the oats much more filling than cornflakes. I do cheat with a small spoonful of sugar as I dot like either honey or maple syrup. That however is the only sugar I have unless I eat something that has hidden sugar.
This particular dog owner is going to get into serious trouble if she doesn't keep her dog on the lead. Today the dog came onto the green outside our house way ahead of her and made a beeline for the other dog so she certainly wasn't under control. What she may not realize is that the local police are looking for an excuse to ban all off lead dogs in this area under local by laws.

Your poor BiL @ladyholly, the traffic accident must have really shaken him up, what a shame he will be losing his car through no fault of his own. Has he been checked for whiplash? You are a very kind and caring SiL to visit him so frequently.
Sad to hear that the the owners of the badly behaved dog haven't made any real effort to curb his behaviour, it would be so sad if he had to be PTS due to their negligence.
Take care of yourself x

Hope tomorrow is a better day for both you & BiL Awful that someone elses behaviour should stop him from driving although I can see how it might.

Bils car is being collected tomorrow for the insurers to assess it. We should know more soon but they do seem to write off cars for silly things sometimes and then they are repaired and sold on to people who are not aware they have been in an accident.2

I wrote a long post yesterday and then lost it and it was time to take Bear out so here I am today. The hallway is completely cleaned at last. Out to buy Mr LHs cigs and acouple of bits from Mr S. The main shop done today at Mr T. The buses yesterday were awful as there was only one an hour so had ages to wait for one home. I was just grateful it wasnt raining.Mr LH has been complaining about being deaf in one ear since he was ill so I said I would make an appoitment today. I cane down this morning to a note from him saying his hearing was better last night. He now says it is worse in the morning and gets better during the day.I brought the scales down to the kitchen to weigh myself properly after a week of healthier eating. I didnt want to do it at the start because there is usually a biggish loss the first week (Can you tell I have tried this before?) and then it slows which I find a bit dispiriting so I thought weigh my at the end of the week. According to my scales I have lost a little weight since seeing the doctor a while ago but of course there is no guarantee my scales weigh the same as the gp. I have done a much healthier shop this week so hopefully will continue with the plan.I dont think their is any other excitiement at the moment but need to go to town in the morning to get to the butcher which is about the limit of my excitement.Have a nice evening.5

Does Mr LH need his ears syringing? I went deaf in one ear years ago and had my ears syringed. The gunk the nurse got out 🤢 My hearing was fine afterwards.Well done on the weight loss. As you know the first week is usually mainly water loss so good idea to leave it. Slow and steady is always best.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2
