Well good morning chums , a very hot sticky night here in kent ,but fingers crossed once we get a little rain it will cool things down a bit.
Today so far has been an odd up and down day.the up part was
1.Got my last supermarket shop for this month, and I go away on 1st July for two weeks on holiday
2. As it was only a small shop I only had a bill of £10.32 which I was quite pleased with, left over cash from this months budget is £7.87 which will get squirrelled away towards my 'big shop' when I come home from holiday in mid-July added to my previous left over loot from April and MayI now have £75.05 tucked away. That should help to refill my freezer a bit and hopefully it will get defrosted before I go away.
3. the downside of this morning was filling my car.
I had done quite a bit of running around this month so I was down to a quarter of a tank so I thought better top-it up as I don't like to let it run too far down
£84.00 later it was topped up !!!.I have a seven seater car and have never ever paid that for a full tank let alone three quarters of one Bit of a shock but I guess it is what it is and I try not to use it very much but the boys (my DGS) needed lots of running around for jobs, interviews etc. I'll be glad when they all have their own cars
But everything is done and I'm now sitting in my conservatory with a cuppa recharging my batteriesI loathe shopping at the best of times but I know I needed to get some essential stuff.
Boy have those prices shot up, but every one I saw and spoke to in there this morning all said the same thing as how they are shopping more carefully and trying to adapt to other things.
I did notice how virtually all the less expensive stuff ,especially tinned stuff was sold out and there are a good few gaps on the shelves.
Oh well we will get through it I expect onwards and upwards chums
have a good weekend what ever you are doing
I shall be at the cncert tomorrow night and no doubt singing along as well candygirl

Well I'm not cheerful today, we were out walking about a town we visit regularly, when I was approached by a lady, who said something along the lines of,
"Excuse me but I wonder if I could welcome you to join our club" then handed me a leaflet for a slimming club.
I politely declined, however all my husband could say as I moaned to him was to tell me to stop swearing.
On the positive front, maybe I do need to start thinking about shifting the weight, I put on during lockdown. ☹

JIL - perhaps I shouldn't laugh but it did make me smile. I think I'd have been uttering a few choice words too.Be kind to others and to yourself too.3

Leaf-letting is a bit of a pain at times , years ago when on holiday in Tennerife with my late husband we kept getting stopped by people trying to sell us holiday-shares or pushing specific restaraunts leaflets at us.
My husband got fed up with one particular girl who was trying to entice us to this place which did all-you can -eat menus, he said crossly "No good showing us that we're both on diets" (which was odd as we were both string beans in stature).
The lass thought for a second, then replied "We do smashing salads as well " My husband burst out laughing, and said "Ok we will go, just for your quick thinking "
These young girls were paid only when a customer turned up with a leaflet apparently
We did go and actually the salads were absolutely gorgeous

JIL, my BMI is 23. I was at an event in the town square a couple of years ago and was handed a leaflet for a slimming club. Didn't know whether to be insulted or recommend the person dishing out the leaflets went to Specsavers!4

Didn't know whether to be insulted or recommend the person dishing out the leaflets went to Specsavers! It has been lovely today, not too hot and perfect for a walk. My philadelphus is nearing peak bloom and smells absolutely wonderful in the breeze, if only it was like this year round and not a measly fortnight a year! I have been inspecting the vegetation on the verges locally because it's all out in full bloom and the time is right for a cutting. So far it's been all budlea, potentilla and skinny bottlebrushes, none of which are desirable. If I see any honeysuckle or jasmine I'm having itNo man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.4 -
C_J said:@JIL - I wouldn't take it personally, I bet the leafletter was handing them out to everyone just to get rid of them
Maybe in a roundabout way she has given me a little push to lose a few pounds. 🙂5 -
So the rain came at last
and its a lot cooler and fresher this morning thank goodness
1.Sun is shining and my grass is looking a lot greener now
2. Off to the concert later today with DD we will go a little earlier as we want to eat before going in
3. Just about to do my menu for this week. I've just worked out I definitely don't need any shopping indoors until after my holidays now, as I have enough to eat up in the freezer and tinned stuff so No shopping until 15 July
4. Freezer should be defrosted just before I go away hopefully, then I can get back the surplus from DDs chest freezer
have a good day chums
