Today's cheerful for me:
A trip to the hairdresser this morning for a tidy-up cut and thinning out at the back, so looking tidy again.
Sitting outside early this morning with my first cuppa of the day and listening to the birds singing.
Being able to go out without being weighed down by thick and heavy clothing.
Paid last month's surplus grocery cash into my winter squirrel fund. Not a lot admittedly, but it all helps.
Glad to hear your back is better JackieO and I shall wait with baited breath to hear your freezer has been defrosted!Be kind to others and to yourself too.2 -
YorksLass down to five meals left in there at the moment .A lasagne, three cottage pies and a veggie curry
as its hot its been salads today both lunchtime and tonight I just didn't fancy much as its so warm so I had some crackers with cheese, tomato and beetroot salad and diced up apple, and a small bowl of fruit salad in juice from my tinned stash left the other half of the tin for tomorrow in the fridge.
Going to be a scorchio tomorrow in north Kent around 33-35c so I'm hiding indoors.Gardener comes at 9.00 a.m. so I will make sure I have some really cold iced drinks for him as bless him he's not a young man, his little retirement job that he does to keep himself active.
Tommorow I have to take my grandson Jack to the Strood academy as he gets his PGTC award in the evening as his course finishes tommorow, then he is a fully fledged seniors teacher.

I shall be cheering you on Jackie but as you say it's difficult to eat much when it's so warm. Tonight we're having a sea bream fillet each with bread & butter followed by apple pie & ice cream and I think that will be quite sufficient for us. Enjoy Barry on Sunday.
Today's cheerful things:
I went to the pharmacy this morning before it got too hot to collect DH's meds and they were ready and waiting for me.
The gorgeous weather.
This morning the postie brought me a large envelope containing some knitting patterns I had sent for (on sale) and they're just what I wanted. Ordered Wed evening, delivered Fri morning - now that's what I call prompt service.
Be kind to others and to yourself too.2 -
Lovely morning walk to the shops in the sunshine
some of the things I wanted were on offer in the supermarket I walked to
I have enough money for the food items we need and our bills
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?3 -
After a truly atrocious bout of bad weather this morning the skies cleared at about 1p.m. so I did a big load of white washing and it's out all on the line. The winds are still very high so it's all blowing away nicely. When I was hanging it all a wee wagtail got very annoyed at me and stomped around nearby flapping it's wings and going ever so slightly bonkers - I must have been near to its nest. That was so funny to see.Yesterday I was so chuffed to see an adult woodpecker and a baby one on my bird feeders - adult feeding the chick. Later there were three, must have been both parents and the chick - such a real joy.8

Best cheerful reason tonight was seeing my beautiful grandson Jack get his PGTC awarded to him and he is now a fully qualified teacher. It was his last day of the course today at the Fort Pitt Grammar school where he has been for a year and the children really treated him well, he is a very popular young man and the girls all have a little crush on him
I picked him up at 3.30 as he couldn't get on a bus with the three bags of presents and he had been given and big Good Luck balloon.
He really is a lovely young man, and I can honestly say I don't know of anyone who doesn't like him as he is always cheerful and helpful to people of all ages.
Before he went to Uni he used to volunteer in the local Marie Curie shop for a couple of years, and all the ladies there doted on him. So much so when ever he was on his summer vac he would pop in to see them and they all would flutter around himthey would save anything nice for him to buy as they knew he was a pretty broke student and they al knew his clothes sizes so he would go in and get pick of some super clothes
I think the girl who gets him down the aisle will be very lucky, as he is a very nice young man and even his three brothers call him Gentle Jack as he is so easy going abd cheerful. I adore all the boys but our Jack is a bit special bless him. he always makes me smile and he lights up the room when he walks in
i'm a very proud happy Grandma tonight10 -
