Thank you for your good wishes. Yes it was a silly thing to do, forgot to take two steps to the right - our bathroom door is opposite the top of the stairs. We now have some motion activated lights on the landing. Ironically the builders are here opening up the wall for a window where will we have a new ensuite bathroom in a few weeks.I'm very achy and bruised. My back looks like some sort of abstract artwork with all the yellows, purples and blues, but I consider myself extraordinary lucky that I didn't go down head first. Must have caught my arm on the wall and twisted as I fell. I think I would probably have broken my neck going face first. The fact it was dark at least means I have no visual recollection to replay in my mind. I landed so hard I ripped a tread out of the staircase (1960s opentread stairs). So yes, I have many reasons to be thankful.Make £2025 in 2025

You were indeed extremely lucky my late sister actually fractured her skull in 1972 and died from a fall downstairs I have a stair lift but have always been a bit paranoid about accident on stairs for obvious reasons and insist that stairs are well lit Hope you soon get over your bruises and be mobile once more

On a lighter note....I am loving this May heat, and also the amazing roses in bloom in people's front gardens. Why can't the weather be like this all year round? No man is worth crawling on this earth.

This morning in Kent we have had some rain, not a huge amount but enough to water the garden and now its stopped the air smells a lot fresher and the sun is coming out again.
I believe there was a storm last night but I slept through it and never heard a thing
Just dug out some stuff from the freezer, and will be using it to make some Shepherds pies later.
I have enough carrots and onions and spare spuds so my 500gms should with a few lentils and a handful of oats make at least 5 single portions of meals for the freezer.
Probably make some rock cakes for my grandsons Jack and Mikey as well.
DGS Henry is doing his last final exam at Uni today so I wll be speaking to him later and will probablt pop a tenner into his bank account so he can buy a pizza and maybe a couple of cans of beer to celebrate his three years are finally finished
then it feet up and a bit of catch-up TV and knitting to finish off my afternoon
Hope everyone is enjoying today, another week almost gone6 weeks tomorrow I'm off on my holidays to the IoW

Apparently there were a couple of loud claps of thunder here at 1.30 am - slept through them. Rained here until 10.30 am.

We are on the Kent coast and I got woken up by the thunder and rain. We'd planned to walk along the coast from Dover to Deal today. It was raining first thing but we set off thinking that if it didn't stop we'd just look round Dover then get the bus home. It was really misty as we got to Dover but by just after 11 it had cleared up so we did the walk. It was lovely on the cliffs. At one point a spitfire flew overhead. As we descended into St Margaret's Bay our phones beeped with a message "welcome to France"!
We did need the rain down here.
