A few rates edged up slightly, something happening to drive this?
US election, and to a smaller extent, UK budget. Both considered inflationary/selling more debt and so central banks less likely to reduce interest rates as far as originally predicted/yields increase.

I think it's just that market sentiment is that inflation will be somewhat higher (and interest rates too) over the next 1 to 5 years, than people were thinking a month or so ago. Atom seem pretty competitive at the moment.

Yes, with my 2 year  4.84  at Charter just ended , now started moving over to a 2 year Atom at 4.51 AER
as I want the monthly interest paid out for spending income.
Already had the app for previous accounts and super quick to open and start filling op.
Payments in also happen within minutes.

Need to spread, so my 4.75 at RCI ending Thursday,  needs to go somewhere else if I fix.

May be worth opening a couple of top rate accounts meeting your basic criteria, but with a reasonable deposit window to buy time to view market a bit longer before making a decision and committing.

Unfortunately most only allow a week to deposit so not long to decide and I think little will change now until the next  BoE rate announcement Dec 19th is closer. Despite any inflationary/unemployment/budget pressures that suggest otherwise, the trajectory for rates is still down from here on.

I opened the recent Skipton Member bond on that basis. Just the minimum £500 at 4.6%. Currently the market has turned a bit against me, but the funding window doesn't close until the 27th Nov, so you never know.

I know Gatehouse and Vanquis both 'reserve' the rates you get for up to 30 days from applying, but neither have amazing rates at the moment.  Gatehouse have a couple of ok ones.
  • I’m looking for an 18 month or 2 year fixed rate account with interest paid on maturity.
I’ve signed up for the SmartSave 2 year fix at 4.61% but wanted to check if there was anything better before I transfer. I’ve looked on moneyfacts - are there any accounts which aren’t showing here?

i've had a couple of fixes with them - no issues that I can recall.

interestingly, I just spotted that I made a deposit into a 2 year with them in May 2023 - I had totally forgotten about that... and checking my current account, the deposit was returned a few weeks later, so I assume I closed it during the funding window... certainly not showing in my open or closed accounts when I log in.

for reference, they also used to accept £1 test deposits in case you want to do that.
