Need to spread, so my 4.75 at RCI ending Thursday,  needs to go somewhere else if I fix.
May be worth opening a couple of top rate accounts meeting your basic criteria, but with a reasonable deposit window to buy time to view market a bit longer before making a decision and committing.
Unfortunately most only allow a week to deposit so not long to decide and I think little will change now until the next  BoE rate announcement Dec 19th is closer. Despite any inflationary/unemployment/budget pressures that suggest otherwise, the trajectory for rates is still down from here on.
I know Gatehouse and Vanquis both 'reserve' the rates you get for up to 30 days from applying, but neither have amazing rates at the moment.  Gatehouse have a couple of ok ones.
Already got a year left of a 2 year with gatehouse. I'm looking at Hodge 2 year
a search here doesn't bring  up much , anyone got any experience of them?
No issues with them personally. They are based in Cardiff. I had a TESSA  with them in the late 1980's. In the last couple of years I have opened a couple of fixed rate bonds, one of which matured earlier this year without any problem.

    Thanks FishinGlass & JanusDesign
Opened a Hodge 2 year, just waiting for my closed RCI to go into nominated account to transfer later.
Just tried a £1 test payment , see if it appears later as it's a Sunday now.

Somehow I didn't quite finalise the £1 payment yesterday but a £100 now went in
    pretty instantly today.

Just finished topping up for now, and reminded of another benefit of locking in to fixed rate  accounts.

Hi...beggining of the month I opened a Gatehouse FR, and I made a £1 test deposit yesterday evening and it hadn't appeared in the FR account by 6:30pm (ish), and I've just seen in my current account that the £1 has been returned.

Am I right in thinking that as it is below the minimum FR balanc amount Gatehouse won't accept a £1 test payment? (Seems sort of obvious as they have returned it, I. just wanted to check with people who may have gone through this with GH)

Yeah,  looking back at a statement  last year, I can see I tried a £1 test and it was returned,

Just got in there in time, looks like the Hodge 2year has dropped from 4.51 to 4.40%

Plenty of 2 year  accounts offering around 4.5% via Raisin.
  • Atom still 4.5% for the 2-year.
