I just got an email from RAISIN (at Shawbrook) offering:
• Shawbrook – 1 year fixed rate bond at 4.87% AER • Shawbrook – 2 year fixed rate bond at 4.96% AER • Shawbrook – 5 year fixed rate bond at 5.01% AER

Nice to see another 5% !

Gone already by the looks of things.

Probably was a comparatively small offering to savers to back a particular tranche of fixed rate mortgages to borrowers, where the society's usual source of funding via the SWAPs market had become too expensive.
With gilt yields on an unrelenting rise with adverse implications for SWAP rates, could very well see other smaller players in the mortgage market tempted to offer eye-catching 5 year fixed rate bonds, to relieve reliance on SWAPs.

Interesting, hope you are right about more such deals cropping up, as I have funds maturing 1st Oct… I wonder if West Brom will actually fetch all the "pledges" they have received within their 14-day deposit window… I'm hoping competition heats up and forces them back into the market… my plan B is a gilt…

Anyone recently opened a West Brom fixed rate account as a new customer? I did so just after midnight today to secure their rate with my needed 14-day deposit window, and received an email saying it will be opened within 3-5 working days… is this what really happens or do they normally open it sooner?

I've opened one as an existing customer, and received the same reply as you. I can't remember how long they take.
