Marcus have just launched a new 1 Year Fixed Rate Saver at 4.90%, which is only 0.01% under the best 1 year fixed rate account currently available.

Unusually (for this type of bond) you can close your account early, although this is subject to a hefty penalty of all interest earned up until closure (capped at 90 days)

Note that, unfortunately, if you already hold one of their fixed rate accounts in your own name (such as the 4.55% fixed rate that was popular back in January) then the only option available for this new account is to open one in joint names (or vice versa), as you can't hold more than one of each type at any one time (one single and one joint fixed rate account).

Do have a fixed rate coming at an end with them on the 2nd. Not sure whether or not it's worth fixing again tbh, Chase saver is currently 4.5% till April (subject to rate shifts)

The Marcus offer above is now impressively the best on the market, there was a 4.91% that Market Harborough were offering that only lasted a few days.

I’ve got the equally short lived (withdrawn yesterday after about ten days) West Brom 18 month fixed term saver also at 4.90% that I’m happy with, wonder if we’ll see the 5% marker broken again soon which I don’t think has been seen in most fixed terms for a while?

Down to 4.75% today, with along with Lloyds is the first rate decrease since the start of January this year.
