Should have just gone for the 5.25% version had I known they might actually take a minimum of 3 working days… need to fund it on 1st (another maturing fix) so had to have a deposit window extending to 1st…

West Brom - as an existing customer, I opened the 5-year ISA equivalent of this - applied on Monday, was open on Tuesday morning and could fund from Wednesday… it was a similar timeframe when I opened my first account with them in January (a RS), e.g next day… though could imagine they have been swamped with applications for these fixed accounts.

Usually opened next day and then you can make the first deposit the day after that.0 -
Didn't take long for another small player in the mortgage market to top 5% over a 5 year fix, in order to attract deposits for mortgage backing.
This could well signal a flurry of such offerings whilst the SWAPs market remains challenging.
Savers happy to commit for that period could see a number of options emerging in the days and weeks to come.
Be interesting to see how NSI growth and Income bonds react, since they had also been aggressively attacking the 5 year fix saving space upto now.

I opened and got same 3-5 days email.
Gave it two days and then decided to open the Shawbrook one instead at 6pm last night - A/C number was instant and the pre-filled ISA transfer form arrived an hour later.
Messaged West Brom to cancel their application and it said 2 days to respond to that!

Yeah I'm already a WB customer. Applied 2 days ago and it's not opened yet, so have opened and funded Shawbrook instead

I applied for a West Brom fix (as a new customer) on September 16th, received a reply with: 'as long as we have everything we need, we'll open your account within three to five working days'.

And, as if by magic, they've emailed to say my ISA is open, having ignored my messaged request to cancel the application!
Sorry folks, you snooze, you lose!

GB Bank has upped its fixes, the 5y up to 5.25% AER
21-day deposit window and appears to use same system as many smaller banks

I'd opened one of these just a few days ago and it is part funded. Very pleased to see that they have applied this new higher rate to this open account that is still in its funding window, no need to open another account.
