Nationwide refused to give me £125 for switching

I can't get £125 cos I just closed my account with Nationwide so no longer an existing customer0

The internal switcher dealing with Santander clearly made a massive error because at no time did this site or any person tell us about a 'trick' with Santander as they did with Nationwide. Guess I will now read all terms before jumping in.0

True, but the point was about your and their reliance on what was said on TV, the fact that you also skim-read a small subset of a MSE website article doesn't really change that.638502813 said:The internal switcher dealing with Santander clearly made a massive error because at no time did this site or any person tell us about a 'trick' with Santander as they did with Nationwide.
Is this the lightbulb "I get it and I will fix it" moment?638502813 said:Guess I will now read all terms before jumping in.

Is that post still up about how pages a very easily answered question takes....

No I can't see how it can be misinterpretedemmajones1976 said:
OK, fair enough, do you not see how that MSE page can be misinterpreted though? Not everyone is a current account tart with 20 current accounts.Petriix said:
There are many examples, even if you don't have multiple current accounts with different providers (I have three). Perhaps you just have a Nationwide mortgage or credit card, or maybe they hold your joint account but not your personal one, or a savings account, isa, etc.How can you be an existing Nationwide customer with a non-Nationwide account?4 -
When you apply for an account or an offer, you will always be asked to confirm that you have read the respective T&Cs. Whether you choose to lie and say you have read them even though you have not, or whether you have actually ensured you don't agree to something you'd rather not, the T&Cs do apply and you have no recourse unless the T&Cs are illegal.638502813 said:In conclusion. Why does this website instruct us on about how anyone can get the bonus even if you're not a Nationwide customer by opening an account, waiting for it to become active, and then switching to another account when it says at the top of the page (as highlighted in red on Dahlia's post) that you can't change from one Nationwide account to another? And Martin Lewis also said on his TV show that there's a trick for anyone to get the bonus? I don't read full terms and conditions, i just see an ''expert'' on TV telling me what i assume are the facts. And I'm sticking with the fact that this website contradicts itself.
The real fact is that no website mentioned in this thread contradicts itself. Though even if the MSE site did, the responsibility for ensuring an offer is right for you lies squarely with you.
BTW, as the offer is still available, and as you don't appear to have benefited from it as yet, you might still be able to use it.3 -
Of course you can (unless you have acted once again without reading the T&Cs)638502813 said:I can't get £125 cos I just closed my account with Nationwide so no longer an existing customer
You just need to be / become a Nationwide customer before you request your switch.0 -
There was no need for a "trick" because the Santander offer was for the same amount for existing and new customers.638502813 said:The internal switcher dealing with Santander clearly made a massive error because at no time did this site or any person tell us about a 'trick' with Santander as they did with Nationwide.
