Nationwide refused to give me £125 for switching

Hi everyone. Thought I'd take advantage of the generous cashback offer from Nationwide. I did everything correctly following these instructions. To quote this website.... ''Not an existing Nationwide member?  Open one of the above accounts but DON'T request to switch during application. Instead, wait until the day after it's fully open, so you're then a Nationwide member, and at that point switch by selecting 'Switch to Nationwide' in online banking. This way you'll be eligible for the £125 bonus.
If you open an account and switch during application, before becoming a Nationwide member, you'll get the lower £100 bonus.''

No luck! You have to switch from a current account that is NOT Nationwide, even if you're already a member, and John from the Nationwide banking department said he'd be happy to speak to someone from this website or Mr. Lewis himself (as he also confirmed this trick on his TV show), so he can put you right, and then you can remove this incorrect info from the site. Applying has taken up valuable time I will never get back and I have nothing to show for it. Gutted!!!

  • Can you tell us where it states on the MSE website that you can switch from a Nationwide current account to a Nationwide current account?

The above bonus is only paid if a non Nationwide Current account is switched to Nationwide.
  • It's on the link in the Nationwide section. I have copied and pasted it in the original post
  • Who can get the bonus? Anyone, unless your existing account's in debt collection or has been frozen. You must also be switching from a non-Nationwide account.

Also on the same page that the OP refers to it says:

Important! You need to be switching from a non-Nationwide account to qualify for the bonus. You won't get it if you're changing an existing Nationwide account to a different account.
  • Can someone explain to me what the quote I got from this website means. I put the quote in my original post.

  • I have read all the article but still don't know what the quote means

The clue is at the start of the section:
Existing customers who switch to the Nationwide FlexDirect get £125, newbies get £100 (though we've an easy trick for all to get the boosted £125 – the link has full details).
  • I will never get it, sadly. Clearly I'm not intelligent. Thanks for all your help ppl

Got an existing FlexAccount, FlexDirect or FlexPlus?

    • Switch by selecting 'Switch to Nationwide' in online banking – fulfil the criteria and you'll get £125.
    Did you do the above?

If this bit is total Jackanory then the MSE guys need to take it out.
