Are there any other houses in your estate with a similar panel where the meter box should be? If so, knock on their door and ask if they know where their gas meter is.

Apologies if this has been asked and answered...but is there a gas boiler?  And has it been serviced?  And if so why hasn't the meter been checked?  I don't think I've ever had a boiler service where there wasn't at least a quick boo at the meter.

Eon outsource to my old meter reading company MDS , (Morrisons Data Services ) .
They use a lot of agency staff nowadays who have no experience .
Parking on your drive is not what we do unless you have double yellows all down your street  which makes me thinks he s an agency worker.

@SAC2334  As an ex meter reader - have you come across something in a new build, unaltered ?  (Probably yes in a extended , conversion )

@JulesSheah sorry if this has already been asked already but have you asked a gas safe engineer to trace your internal pipework (or tried doing this yourself) to see where it exists your home.

I ve been to thousands of new build estates over the years large and small but never come across a completely missing gas or electric meter. I have had to search plenty of meters out for new occupiers who had no idea where their meter/s were
.I ve come across plenty of crossed meters though which is the norm on a large new build estate
. Theres always some mess ups mainly due to plot numbers changing to normal numbers with virtually all new builds omitting the number 13 .

If I had turned up to read your meter I would have been trying to pop that panel off without damaging it, but at the end of the day, damage it or not, you need to be able to access your ECV in case of a gas escape

And me too -  for the sake of a builder and a new meter box - I'd want to know what was on my property. - what ever it was.  I just can't see the reluctance.
