This has been a wind-up for some time.

Guess which of my meter boxes contains the gas meter? :)

  • What I am noticing is that the gas boxes appear to have hinges on the right hand side and a G, whilst the electric boxes have hinges on the left hand side with an electric symbol.

The OPs pic could potentially have an electric symbol when you zoom in and it does open on the to the left.

Still intrigued though......I would have to slaughter the stuck on panel to see what lies behind. Either it has meter there or it does not, simples. Why wouldn't you check that out first of all? Perhaps it's a black hole though, maybe best to leave it alone.

Still not convinced it's a gas box, but happy to be wrong if he ever shows us.

Guess which of these is a gas box? Each have the "pipe" so his picture could still be electric

That one is easy - the box with the vents in the door is (or should be) the gas box.
    It is easy
Not to be rude, but my point was, they both have the 'pipe' which people are saying is a gas pipe on the OP's meter box

I've seen gas and electric boxes with external pipes, only the gas one has slits in the door.

Top one is where my gas should be, bottom one is my electricity one.  The isolation valve should be by side of the meter....

What a lovely day to open the top box with a key, force open the bottom one and take a few photo's - or do you think PP has found his missing meter (and is now saving up for all the money he owes ?)

... or could be on holiday having got a large refund... after all, 8 year on estimated billing could go either way...

I'm still betting that since there is a meter number on the account there is a meter, just needs to be found to see if it is actually the right one or not...

  • i reckon that cover slides up, there will be a meter somewhere

been good read this thread, looking forward to the update and outcome

Hope you’re going to pay for the repairs seeing as how you’re badgering for it to be done

Far cheaper than rebuilding after the house explodes and / or burns down because there was a gas leak and the emergency cut off valve couldn't be found...
