My girlfriend still really seems to like the look of it but we have agreed that we will go for a good test drive first to see how this car drives. If it is harsh riding, loud and quite frankly dangerous it isn’t the car for us
That's exactly what the car is - it's a high performance road legal track car. It's really intended for rich people to drive to track days or show off. It's fast and great on a track but will be awful for daily road use.
If you want a car that looks like it, then go and buy a regular 4 series with the M kit. It'll be about half the purchase price, half the running costs and be much nicer to drive.
I wouldn't even dream of having one with a black box fitted, because there's no point having a 400bhp car and driving like a granny.
Theres even 20 inch M4 Competition replica alloys if its the "big shiny wheels" that he wants.
But then the O/P seems to be in the Dark about this Matter.0 -

Fortunately the OP is a school child who's making things up, and is never likely to have an M4, now, or in the future.0 -

Very capable cars on the road, which is where they're designed for.
Also not just bought by the idle rich, they're a level of performance car that is reasonably affordable (apologies if you're among the idle rich)

I’ve a Range Rover Sport now.You should have got one of these:Surprised the OP didn't go for one. 21" shiny wheels and it must be fast...utopia55 said:We obviously knew from having four exhaust tips that it was a fast car but our preference is really just looks...

One positive effect of Range Rover’s appalling reliability record is that I was able to get a 40,000 mile six year-old version of the V8 for a (relatively) reasonable £36,000.1 -
utopia55 said:Excuse me but who are you to say what I can or can’t afford? Both my partner and I work so we think we deserve something nice to drive.
I use cheap tyres on a cheap and low powered car - they are just not safe on a car such as the M Competition BMW series.
Just because you and your partner work does not entitle you to a performance car, but I'd suggest the M Competition won't actually be that nice to have, even if it is a sharp drive.1 -
utopia55 said:We haven’t test drove it but as some posters gave mentioned the ride is harsh and we prefer something smooth and comfortable and there is now a chance that we may not buy this car and return instead coupled with realising that the running costs seem a bit far fetched and the car seems obnoxiously loud when the salesman started it up which my girlfriend wasn’t too impressed by.

Please keep up with your previous postings. 🤦♀️
Interesting that someone who is not a car person has posted how much tread in on the tyres & what fuel type required.... Non car people would say it got 4 round black things & a fuel filler flap. They would never look at tread depth or open fuel flap till they get to fill it up & then wonder how to open flap...

Change of tune, a friend of my partner has said the M4 is fairly comfortable so my partner and I, have decided to make the compromise in ride quality and added insurance/maintenance costs for the sake of looks.
BMW extended warranty can be had for £1800 if we decided to keep the car for more than a year but seems overly expensive. Been looking around at third party warranty which comes out significantly cheaper and will cover all repairs so seems viable financially. Instructed the dealer to carry out their BMW Protect X paint protection and interior protection package so all ready for collection this week.0 -

So despite you prostrations that it was only a refundable deposit. If you did not like the car after a test drive. You have instructed dealer to spend money on the package... 🤣Life in the slow lane1
