Good point. Cheap tyres will tell any buyers that you couldn't afford to run the car and have cut corners everywhere.

Have you sorted insurance for it yet?
Yes I am getting the black telematics box, it is £800 cheaper than without.

I think it might be time to be honest with yourself. You can't afford to have this car. Budget tires and having to fit a black box to keep insurance down? With the black box fitted you won't be having any fun at all in this car. I don't mean speeding either. You can have great fun with the quick acceleration to the speed limit and a whale of a time throwing it into corners and around roundabouts. You will be heavily peanalised for doing both of those.

I think the rest of society should probably be thankful for a black box on these cars. It doesn't make sense that a competition car is on the roads. Should be on a race track.

When I viewed the car I noticed the fuel cap recommended minimum 98 RON fuel. I think this might mean She’ll V Power or the like. Can I get seay with using normal supermarket fuel? Will it affect the engine?

Very few people can afford to run one of these so the type of people who can will generally be quite well behaved. Think about it, most cars are more than capable of breaking the speed limit but people who can spend this amount on a car will want to keep it in one peice so will be more carefull than a boy racer in a modified Fiesta.

    As in super unleaded? Yes.

Thats if you ever purchase it, not sure you will.

    Unleaded E10 is 95 RON

So you are looking at filling with super unleaded.. E5 & the increased cost.

Lets face it. You can't afford to run the car can you.

I looked up the user name that others suggested you are, and they really do seem to have a point. New user asking ridiculous questions about one of the sportier BMWs that they clearly think will impress people and that they clearly haven’t bought.

    I’m out.
  • In case anyone genuine happens across this thread…

Any modern engine will function perfectly well on any grade of petroleum that you can buy in the UK, but the engine management may well have to dial back the power on some of the ropier ones.

I’ve a car that works best on the higher octane fuels, but if I’ve a long motorway trip I’m happy to get the cheapest available for that. When I want it at its best I get one of the “premium” fuels.

I'm 100% convinced this is a Dark Matter reincarnation. The style of writing is identical.
