There's a bit of deja-vu going on here though - you've not had a Yaris in the past have you ?

Now there was a blast from the past. Here is the classic thread:

Wow- cant believe that was 2014, I remember the halcyon days of trying to get DM to do the custard test. Made me smile reading it again. How I wish is was still 2014......
    Six years before you joined?
Do you need to join to read the forum then?
No, but you need to have joined to be "trying to get DM to do the custard test". How can you interact with another forum member if you're not one yourself? ;)
Then it's not before they joined then is it, obviously?

But the person who made that "custard" comment joined 24 May 2020 at 12:20PM ... 6 years after the thread in question. How could that specific forum member be asking DM to do a custard test 6 years before they joined? :)

Is it not obvious? If you mean something entirely different then your comment is not obvious, sorry.

Or are you playing silly beggars with the subtle meaning of words and phrasing? 🙄

that member did not ask dm to do the test but could easily have read it without being a member  at the time

So subtle interpretation of words and phrasing then, and not making it clear that's what they meant, preferring instead to engage in behaviour which makes them think themselves superior. OK 🙄

You have bought a circa £40k high performance car and you want to put budget tyres on it?

If you do that you won’t be able to enjoy the performance the car has to offer and god help you driving a 400+ BHP rear wheel drive car with cheap tyres.
Can I get away with mid-range tyres, maybe ones that aren't as expensive as the Michelins?

I am very surprised by everyone's comments here. No, I am not a troll and this is my first performance car so I'm not too glued up on overall expectations (tyres etc.) but wondering if there are ways I can lower servicing/maintenance costs.
Car just had a major service in November last year so not due for another 15,000 miles or so and it comes with a 1 year main dealer warranty.

People on this forum, mostly middle to old aged men I assume, have this strange habit of NOT ignoring threads they can't help in or find suspect. I got an iffy parking ticket for parking too close to where the kerb drops and questioned it on this forum. More than half the post were questioning whether I manipulated the pictures shared to make myself look innocent. It makes no sense at all to do such a thing but numerous individuals jumped on this conspiracy and demanded I share addiction photos.

You just have to accept the weirdness of a lot of people on these forums, ignore the unhelpful post and pick out the ones that are of help.

I'll say you should post this on Reddit, one the BMW threads.

Yes been a member since 2007 but lost my password a few years ago when I bought a new PC so re-joined after scratching my head and trying to find it. Loved the DM 101 period and now still when someone mentions him I smile, even now when I see a Yaris for sale locally I always think about calling them and asking if it has rear brakes.
I'd like to think the DM is doing okay where ever they are. I also remember "Student Phil" from back in the day and am still pleased to see "Crashy Time" still clinging on to the notion of house price collapse, I think since first reading his threads house prices must have doubled.

I've had some great help and advice across all the boards over the years, MSE forum has been a great resource and sometimes more entertaining than watching tv.
