Please share with us a photo of the vehicle when you've got it. In order to ensure it's not an image you've filched from elsewhere, please put a tin of custard* on top of the car (protected by a cloth of course, and with the reg blanked for privacy) so we know it's a genuine picture. :)

    * I had a read of that other thread. ;)

Change of tune, a friend of my partner has said the M4 is fairly comfortable so my partner and I, have decided to make the compromise in ride quality and added insurance/maintenance costs for the sake of looks.

BMW extended warranty can be had for £1800 if we decided to keep the car for more than a year but seems overly expensive. Been looking around at third party warranty which comes out significantly cheaper and will cover all repairs so seems viable financially. Instructed the dealer to carry out their BMW Protect X paint protection and interior protection package so all ready for collection this week.

Congrats on upgrading your girlfriend to partner!
Do post us pics of the BMW when you get it this week, so we can all admire it accordingly. :)

    Edit: +1 on the custard!

My girlfriend still really seems to like the look of it but we have agreed that we will go for a good test drive first to see how this car drives. If it is harsh riding, loud and quite frankly dangerous it isn’t the car for us

That's exactly what the car is - it's a high performance road legal track car. It's really intended for rich people to drive to track days or show off. It's fast and great on a track but will be awful for daily road use.

If you want a car that looks like it, then go and buy a regular 4 series with the M kit. It'll be about half the purchase price, half the running costs and be much nicer to drive.

I wouldn't even dream of having one with a black box fitted, because there's no point having a 400bhp car and driving like a granny.
I don't agree that it's a track car; we had an M3, and it was far too heavy for the track but was a very nice fast road car. I do agree though that the idea of buying one and putting a black box in it is ridiculous.

Fortunately the OP is a school child who's making things up, and is never likely to have an M4, now, or in the future.
    Agreed.

Very capable cars on the road, which is where they're designed for.

Also not just bought by the idle rich, they're a level of performance car that is reasonably affordable (apologies if you're among the idle rich  :# )
I miss mine, it really was a lovely car, but I decided when child #2 came along that I wanted something with a bigger boot.

I’ve a Range Rover Sport now.
Yeah i havent quite got to an M car yet, though its on my to do list.

Was ready to buy an E92 M3 when the first lockdown happened and after that it has all went a bit crazy.  I got a Z4 Coupe just for a weekend toy as prices were more stable, though i see they've went up in price notably now.

We've an M140i as our main car as we need a 5 door and the Mrs doesnt like a car thats too big.  Might look at an M4C or M2C later in the year but i'd replace our second car with one (its a 630i) and then still be able to run the M140i as our daily driver.

I definitely need to own a M car at some point :)

Is that a photo of your Z4? Nice :)

(Or do we need to ask you to do the custard test?) 😂

Its that price for a reason - they can, and do, generate big bills on occasions.

Curious as to you logic about spending probably £500 on a £20 Protect X package when you're so keen to cut costs?

     :D

It is indeed.  Love it to bits.  It turns so many heads, theres not a fortune of money tied up in it compared to the price of new ones, and the icing on the cake is its going up in value.

    This is the other two.

Do you understand what the warranty is & what it covers?

So despite you prostrations that it was only a refundable deposit. If you did not like the car after a test drive. You have instructed dealer to spend money on the package... 🤣
Not sure why you are being so condescending but yes I do know what a warranty is it'll cover me for all repairs if something breaks so should reduce maintenance costs

Yeah dealers are really good like that.

They' throw in loads for free all the time.  Its in their nature.  In fact i'm almost certain they get bonused on how many things they give away free.

Added in for free as part of the negotiation. They wouldn't reduce the price of the vehicle
