We’d like to remind Forumites to please avoid political debate on the Forum.
This is to keep it a safe and useful space for MoneySaving discussions. Threads that are – or become – political in nature may be removed in line with the Forum’s rules. Thank you for your understanding.
PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Please also avoid posting personally identifiable information, including links to your own online property listing which may reveal your address. Thank you for your understanding.

P.S. Thanks again!7 -
The problem with "quietly slip away unnoticed" is that it leaves a question the answer to which may be Covid-related. I would prefer to know that (ex) regular posters who leave are at least safe.4

Doozergirl said:Furts.Except his account still exists and he hasn't logged in since 2018 after 6 years of regular posting. 😕
Hopefully he just found something more interesting to do.
Furts was the equivalent of AdrianC - blunt but knowledgeable. One of their posts were worth 10 of the "hot air" speculative kind. The sort that I post
I can't believe Davesnave got banned, a more mild-mannered and amusing resident of this parish you couldn't find. It seems a decent posting history counts for nothing.
And I have had a yellow card - for calling out someone defending what was obviously an investment ponzi scheme and in the same post defending a poster with 70000+ helpful posts. The latter got banned and re-instated while the former hasn't been back to mea culpa. I expect my yellow is still on the books.
The fundamental issue is that the moderators/admins don't participate in or even know who is who on the busier sections here. So while a quiet word would be appropriate, a blanket ban is easier to enforce when they don't know better.3 -
Re davesnave - just had a thought. Wasn’t he a bit of a beggar with his signatures…? Is that maybe it? I can’t believe it’s something he posted.Shout out to people who don't know what the opposite of in is.0

Some of his vaccination comments weren’t appreciated when they veered too much towards discussion and pointing out there were alternative scientific views. That ruffled a few feathers, unfortunately.
To be honest, I’m surprised this thread has lasted this long.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.4
