We’d like to remind Forumites to please avoid political debate on the Forum.
This is to keep it a safe and useful space for MoneySaving discussions. Threads that are – or become – political in nature may be removed in line with the Forum’s rules. Thank you for your understanding.
PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Please also avoid posting personally identifiable information, including links to your own online property listing which may reveal your address. Thank you for your understanding.

So, like quite a few of you around here, I’ve been contributing to this forum for quite a few years now and have found myself replying to the same old questions in an abrupt manner lately.
It’s not that I mean to be rude, just that I wish people would actually search the thousands of previous threads before posting the same old questions.
I come from a background where being blunt is the most sensible option. Unfortunate, some see this as being rude, which I understand.
The same old questions that come up are along the lines of ‘Can I avoid stamp duty on my second home?’, or ‘why won’t the vendor pay for an electrical and gas safety certificate?’.
I’ve found myself being completely annoyed by this so think it’s time to say goodbye to Moneysavingexoert. Let’s be honest, it’s not turned out to how Martin would have actually wanted.
Thanks for all your advice over the years - @GM, Dave, and @Doozergirl to name a very few.
So to all I may have offended, I apologise.
Good luck to you!

Sorry to see you go, and I totally sympathise. As over the years I've also periodically been similarly abrupt for the same reason (and suffered the consequences!), I understand the frustration.Sadly the forum mod's response can be counter-productive, resulting not only in loss of valued contributers such as yourself, but also in the perpetuation of out-of-date information.Having said that, the repeated querying of issues is understandable: new posters often don't know how to use the search function, or don't realise their query is not unique.Hope you find a new home. Sorry to see you go. Blunt is sometimes more effective than tactful …10

(mumsnet?)Thank you for tagging me. I'd rather you stayed, but I get it. There are better things to be doing if it only makes you angry. Don't forget your password, just in case?
😘
If the mods move or delete this, I'll be so sad. It's like we're not allowed to make friends anymore either. You're probably old enough to remember the good old days when Martin used to post in the forums.I miss Generali the most. Some incredibly valuable people just disappear one day. How I survive, I'm not sure. My day will come, no reprieve for previous good behaviour or £££s saved.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Sorry to see you leave. I have had a couple of warnings for being blunt on another section of forum as people don't like hearing the truth.
For me the start of the end was when GM leftAn answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......10 -
Aww don't go.
Sometimes many of us are a bit blunt or factual - certainly me included (sorry!). I tend to spell it out rather than give out virtual hugs.
It's easy to forget there's not just a human being the other but often a vulnerable, angry or frustrated one.
Jx2024 wins: *must start comping again!*7 -
Are you sure? If you stay, Ive heard a house price crash is just around the corner. Wouldn't want to miss it?10

It's a generation thing.
A lot of us grew up in an era where a person lived by their common sense, wits, and had no fluffy cotton wool support cushion - it made for a sharper, tougher mind and outlook, sadly it's not a thing now where everyone must acknowledge other peoples fluffy-nesss 😠15
