PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. I have been warned on numerous occasions, but stupid is as stupid does.
I have been on the receiving end of blunt posters who helped and put everything into perspective.
Some people need to get out more... leaving though is counter productive.. hang on in there ...from another blunt...sometimes rude contributor8 -
Move to a board where you are seeing new questions
There is always the option to pick what you want to respond too on this one.
Never really understood the need announce you are leaving a party.

If you think the questions are repetitive on here head over to Facebook and look at groups about popular holiday destinations .
Every day and possibly within a few minutes
1) what's the exchange rate
2) what's the weather like in march
3) where's the best Sunday roast / Chinese / curry / restaurant.
4) any review of XXX hotel ( reply with TripAdvisor and get " I read that , I wanted people's opinions" ?? )Ex forum ambassador

Sorry you are leaving
It does seem that in society in general many confuse not liking what people are saying with being offendedGather ye rosebuds while ye may6 -
There’s more than one who are on a final warning for no clear reason.
However I would also add that I find the search function in this place next to useless since the new forum was put in place so i do think reminding yourself of that when a question comes up yet again helps. I was looking for a recent thread a few days ago that I knew was there but just couldn’t find.Time away from here if it’s an off the phone generally isn’t always a bad thing though. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.20 -
I agree the search function is useless, and that doesn't help new posters at all. I find that searching my keywords + MSE on Google gives me more helpful threads here than using the actual search function which seems to favour returning something from 2011. So I start a new thread, then realise someone asked the exact same question three days ago but I couldn't find it.I think when you start to feel angry about something, it's good to get some distance, but don't assume it's forever. On a boring, rainy winter's lockdown night, it's useful to have a boring place to be with no expectations!10

Shame you're leaving, but always put your sanity first! Hope you find a new exciting venture and perhaps visit us to let us know what you're up to!?
I'm another believer in being blunt is often the best option, and I'm not particularly the sympathetic type unless it is genuinely called for...!
I'm always amazed about the amount of people asking for help when they have already made up their mind on what they think is right, so are unbelievably rude to people who try to suggest otherwise!
The search function on here is rubbish, so I don't blame people for repetitive questions. They probably stumbled across the site by a Google search and found a similar but different scenario, so then post their own.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)10 -
Agree the search function on here is poor.I’ve received some rather blunt advice on here a few times, and it was exactly what I needed. I didn’t need people telling me how awful x is and how they feel sorry for me but hang on in there!! I needed - situation a isn’t an issue because…. but you haven’t even considered b. You should do this and then that, and look at this website. Crack on.Maybe we need a snowflake section, where no real advice is given but virtual hugs and useless platitudes are thrown around like confetti.Instead of the mods reacting to someone reporting a post/member, perhaps it would be wise of them to read the offending post to see if it contained accurate and useful information. Banning the knowledgable folk for someone taking offence is short-sighted and dumb, frankly. And anyone who takes offence at that can take the gate as well and shut it behind them (as Father always said) 😁Shout out to people who don't know what the opposite of in is.15

Argh, davilown. Your username is very familiar, so you have clearly contributed on here very regularly.I hope it's temporary, and you find you miss it too much after you've had a breakIt can become compulsive, but it is possible to take a partial step back from it. For instance, when you read the threads that are repetitive or annoy, just ignore them. Resist!I hope it's not permanent.2
