We’d like to remind Forumites to please avoid political debate on the Forum.
This is to keep it a safe and useful space for MoneySaving discussions. Threads that are – or become – political in nature may be removed in line with the Forum’s rules. Thank you for your understanding.
PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Please also avoid posting personally identifiable information, including links to your own online property listing which may reveal your address. Thank you for your understanding.

Used to always tell people on the In My Home board that everything builder related was partially their fault for not doing due diligence. He was usually right, but someone would have taken offence eventually although I'd worried until this thread that he'd died. 😟Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Not new Doozergirl, newer than this one but old. Happened when they changed the format of this one - lots preferred the way it looked and were unhappy, so moved across. I remember it being talked about on the 'Nice Peoples' thread at the time. What I do not give, you must never take by force.

I’m not the only one who mistakes people’s absence for something rather grimmer then! Did seem to be quite a few folk suddenly not posting….. but covid n’all…. 😔
Happy to be proved wrong. I was entirely ignorant of the whole banning/moving to other fora fandangle!Shout out to people who don't know what the opposite of in is.1 -

As a lot of my replies and threads don't mention money saving (neither do many on here, they are more about problems), I couldn't really get how the situation happened. But it did and I still expect it to happen again, every time I post. So the forum has lost a lot of the 'good' stuff for me. Its a shame. I did post a few threads that were removed about G_M being banned, sure that didn't help lol.

I have read posts by frequent contributors that I have strongly disagreed with, but I don't report them.I have had differing opinions to others that could easily have descended into an arguement if I'd continued to pursue, but I've left it in case I'm wrong (and let others come and correct or support me).I have tried to amend my approach to be more sympathetic as I can be quite cold and methodical in my perspective. To me the biggest issue is a forum without differing views. I also disagree with picking fault over past posts (here and elsewhere). We as a society are becoming quite counterproductive in how we operate. People quite rightly want us to change our thoughts and opinions if they had negative connotations, but yet we get shot down for the person we once were not the person we now are.May you find your sister soon Helli.

I worry about what regular posters such as Adrian will do with themselves if permanently banned. Adrian was on here just about all the time (I imagine that he was another 'neurodivergent' member). It's like being banned from your local pub or community centre and could potentially be really damaging for some.4

I know we have to be welcoming and kind to newbies, but it does seem unjust and counter-productive when someone with half a dozen posts takes umbrage at a reply they dislike often because it's not the answer they wanted, complains, and someone with several K posts who has helped countless people gets penalised.
