We’d like to remind Forumites to please avoid political debate on the Forum.
This is to keep it a safe and useful space for MoneySaving discussions. Threads that are – or become – political in nature may be removed in line with the Forum’s rules. Thank you for your understanding.
PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Please also avoid posting personally identifiable information, including links to your own online property listing which may reveal your address. Thank you for your understanding.

How does one know if one gets a warning? I have a junk email address that I use for these sorts of sites and rarely check it1

Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.3 -
I'm sorry to see any knowledgeable posters leave. I've been here (previously as jude47, inventive, moi?) since about 2006 although posting more now I'm retired. There have been some terrific posters who have left or been removed because they've upset someone. As long as posts don't descend into ad hominem attacks then I don't see the problem but I suspect that a handful of moderators are trying to manage what is still a busy forum so take the path of least resistance.
As for repetitive questions, well as the saying goes 'there are no stupid questions'. I tend to stick to a handful of boards where, unfortunately, people are posting at their most stressed and I think it's easy to forget that when the thousandth thread is posted asking if a poster should get a DMP but posts no details of their situation. I try not to be impatient but I'm not sure I always succeed.
I've now got certain regularly used paragraphs saved in a Word document. Cut and paste - works for me, with the bonus that it saves me time as well as frustration.8 -

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -
Don't leave, take a break and come back when you are ready.3

I agree about searching but sometimes things change so reading old information can be wrong.1

There could be different variations of the same question.
Try to take a break or ignore the posts that annoy you.
Not everything is worth responding to.0 -
The big problem with forums in general is that when one searches a query or topic in the hope of finding an answer, so many threads take you to a dead end. It's really helpful if people can post feedback/updates to their initial queries. So few bother though. The other thing I notice is that whenever someone resurrects an old thread they get a flurry of responses telling them that the thread they've responded to is X months/years old and to start a new one!1
