You've made me look up my MSE anniversary too. Joined in 2006 under an old username but was using MSE to buy more stuff more cheaply, not saving - didn't know I had any money issues. Then in March 2014 I started my first thread when we had £18k in credit card debts and a £13k car loan. No mortgage because we'd sold our house by then and were in rented, so no equity either
Takes a deep breath and is very thankful for where we are now

Thanks @ladybird1106, @greenbee, @Watty1, @debtfreewannabe321 (and happy belated anniversary 😊), @beanielou, @savingholmes, @redofromstart
@SandyShores you’ve come a loooong way in 11 years 😊👏
Had quite a lazy start to the day but eventually got out in the garden and discovered that the greenhouse had lost two panes of glass and one of Perspex … 😢 We cleared up all the shards between us and then Mr KK went out and wrangled the materials, though one pane of glass is oversize and he will have to borrow a mate’s glass cutter, but patched it up with a second perspex sheet, so it is fully enclosed again 😊👏🤩
I meanwhile battled on with the treelets and general weeding / clearing under the pine tree at the bottom of the garden. Mr KK came down at one point and mattocked out a couple of the bigger ones for me as I couldn’t shift them. I then barrowed 4 wheelbarrows worth of bark down there and spread it thickly. It’s really starting to look like something now 😊 That meant I finally completely emptied one of the dumpy bags of bark I ordered just before Christmas (dumpy bag now folded flat and tucked in between the shed and the holly hedge…) and made a start on the second one 💪👏 The job is not yet finished but the worst of it is done. 😊
Managed a few other doings:
- wrangled three loads of washing including all my gardening stuff after I came back in. Got two of them fairly dry on the line in the sunshine 😊
- restrung one of my favourite larimar stone pendants which I have been wanting to do for ages - wore it all day with joy 🤩❤️
- set up the sonic bath with pestle and mortar crushed toothpaste tablets and started running some more jewellery through it. Coming up well again.
- Cut bay leaf stems and a flower posy from the garden - I need to update my produce tracker with these 😊
- Good dollop of tapestry 😊
Overall 11.3K steps which doesn’t take account of a lot of physical effort in the digging, barrowing etc. 😊
I am physically tired but feeling mentally much brighter. Quieter day tomorrow as the weather will be wet-wet-wet! Still a bit coldified so will have a good session on the salt pipe after my shower.KKAs at 15.07.25:

DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Feeling ugh … Headache, dry cough, sore throat, snuffly, clumsy (I’m getting covered in bruises and the house in spills 🙄😂) and very disturbed sleep … Sigh …
Spent the whole day in one on one training, on an ISO standard for medical devices. Great training, very useful but a pretty intense day! 🤯😳😂MSE littles:- £5.17 QM33 OP along with a 15p TT 👏😊
- Checked when my MOT is - 4th April. Wasn’t in my diary due to buying new to me car last year. Will ring to book MOT and service with our mechanic at the beginning of March and then book that as a day’s leave, probably as a long weekend 😊
- Checked when CC bill is due - 6th February I.e. after my new end of month payday.Boiler parts are on their way and it should be fixed by the end of the week. Plumber has come up with cheaper option to fix it - the expansion tank that has failed is buried deep in the back of the boiler and will will take an hour to disassemble, however long to fit and then and hour to reassemble … Instead we are going to bypass the existing expansion tank and have a new one in the roof space directly above the boiler 😊 Should be a lot quicker and we can use a less bespoke, more generic tank 😊
Edit: A nice thing from today. At lunchtime I saw a pied woodpecker on the bird feeder. The coal tits were not as pleased as me to have something so big nicking their grub! 😉

Work week was busy, throat was razor blades all week - worst aspect of that was waking twice a night with a horribly sore throat and having to guzzle down more painkillers. I’m shattered. Now, I am horribly gloopy. Planned to sleep in this morning but had to get up as I couldn’t breathe any more … At least the throat is finally easing a bit. Even Mr KK seems worried about me … (this is unusual, usually I’m well and he is sickly, of the two of us.)However, had my 4 week review yesterday which was positive and I had the most constructive day since I got there, with variety and genuinely useful input from me. I am finally going to be included in the morning management meetings as well.No significant plans for this weekend apart from being kind to myself. I have some washing to do and some light chores, but other than that the sofa is going to see a LOT of action this weekend! 😉 I would like to do my end of month, post payday, money shuffles and see if there is any spare cash I can send off to the mortgage 😊
