Was trying to remember where I saw some really lovely wool socks and was about to fall down the rabbit hole that is etsy. Surfacing long enough to post this.... Merino Wool Socks Women - Etsy UK . I personally like the sofa socks but there's a lot of lovely variety.
Second vote for the Thursday Murder Club. They're good fun (well, except for the murders), sweet, sad, an easy read.
Should you go for poetry - UA Fanthorpe is good (Postcards being a favourite), heard Wendy Cope this morning on Earlier with Jules Holland on Radio 3 and her work sounded interesting. And an old favourite is Theodore Reothke but his are quite long and involved so might not work for her quite yet. But he's the source of my favourite line in poetry "What need of God, with that man and those roses" (which is not about a romance but it's such a good sentiment in my opinion)
Should you go for pictures - well that would depend on the sort of art she does and likes. I got a Norman Ackroyd book recently - no words really just pictures - but interesting to me as he has a loose style of watercolour painting to which I aspire. Otherwise if she likes colour in general I don't think you could go wrong at all with anything featuring Kaffe Fassett. I still remember the thrill of seeing an exhibit of his work about 30 years back - my mom had insisted we go and she was right to drag me along.

I love Wendy Cope. As a gift I'd probably go for an anthology. I was going to suggest 'The Nations Favourite Poems' but that was published some time ago. Looking for it I found 'Dancing by the Light of the Moon' edited by Gyles Brandreth (and now need to order a copy!).2

I'd vote in favour of a colouring postcard book by someone like Marcus Chin. Can be done with colouring pens, pencils or water colour.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I purchased Nordic socks before Christmas and absolutely love them. They’re merino and whilst they need hand washing, they’re just perfect for keeping my feet toasty. I now hate anything that’s a conventional slipper sock as it’s always made with stuff that makes my feet sweat. Can’t help on the book front at all I’m afraid 🤣 I’m still reading a book I started on Jan last year. I will say though, it’s large and I’m on about the last 40 pagesFollow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

Thanks @ladybird1106, @beanielou (gorgeous cat beds 🤩), @PennysIntoPounds, @skint_spice, @Brie, @greenbee @savingholmes, @MissRikkiC and thanks for all the ideas. 😊There are some good suggestions I will follow up 😊 (I’m suspecting my friend will get a little bit spoilt … 😉)
@edinburgher, yes that was an awesome catio. They loved it.Sort of feeling a bit better and sort of not … Sore throat isn’t quite as razors (eased completely at lunchtime today, but resurfaced again this afternoon 🤷♀️) but my left ear is still completely bunged up. Got cold and fell asleep on the sofa this morning so took myself off to bed for a bit.Had a very quiet day overall - just put the food delivery away, emptied internal bins, wrangled three loads of washing, sat on the sofa, watched lots of V0yager and done LOTS of tapestry 😉😊 Tried to read but that was when I fell asleep on the sofa … 🤷♀️
Ordered some more prescription meds and fixed an error on my tapestry colour chart. Had a curry takeaway tonight as a treat by Mr KK - first this year 😊 It was very good.KKAs at 15.07.25:

Glad you feeling better - and some lovely suggestions for books etcDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Sorry to hear that you've not been feeling too well. I hope a restful weekend will help.
We had a takeaway curry last night too. Also, first of the year. It was only the 2 of us, so a bit cheaper and it was very tasty, just had seconds for a late breakfast 😋😂♥️ ♥️ ♥️🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸Decluttering 2025 So far 403 / 2025

Some great suggestions for books, and the colouring book idea was lovely too.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -
Thanks @LadyWithAPlan, @~FlowerPot~, @Watty1 😊
Had another quiet day today. Lots of tapestry and V0yager. Did pop out for 30 minutes as needed more meds and popped in the local garden centre to get more clips for the greenhouse as all the escaping panes recently, have meant we’ve used quite a few. I might also have found a very pretty pink and white picotee begonia to add to my courtyard collection 😊❤️ Paid for from my pocket money.Mr KK’s washing almost dried on the whirlygig 😊👏
Took out some cash as pocket money but only £50 as I haven’t spent all of last month’s. Not sure if I can turn that into an OP until I review the last month’s spends v. budget. Also managed to clear out a load of dead pots of various types from the conservatory which made room for me to plant up my two types of shallots and sowed two types of broad beans 😊 That cheered me up! I also cleaned down a window sill in the conservatory that had randomly gone mouldy which has been looking at me for some time … 🤷♀️😉
Still feeling horribly gloopy. Not sure if I will make it to work tomorrow as I felt really rough this morning and quite wobbly at periods throughout the day. But no work no pay during my probation period … 🤷♀️
