Challenging day today … Work has a significant deadline looming and people are getting stressed. Unfortunately, I am the one who is telling them that what they have produced is not good enough … 🤷♀️
The weather was mis today, very cold, grey and damp … so no walk at lunchtime but got to 9.8K steps anyway! 😳👏
I have made a decision about the Japanese Maple tree … I can’t bring myself to have it cut down, so instead I have a quote (£270) to have the crown thinned instead, so that we can look through it to some free and see what is beyond. This also makes sense in another way as there is a dead section in the centre of it anyway. There is a scratty, ratty, sickly little viburnum looking thing underneath it that the tree chap will remove as well. This will give us time to plant another tree behind it, much closer to the boundary, between us and a neighbour’s very visible red brick gable end, just in case the Maple dies after the crown thinning … genuinely hope it doesn’t … 🤞 Feel better for having definitely decided what to do with this. Not an NSD - bit the bullet and ordered some Pink Fir Apple tubers from bay of E as I can’t find any locally and I need to start chitting! 😊

11K steps without even trying …! 😳
Busy day, mostly okay with a possible disaster at the end - I will find out tomorrow if it was or not ….
NSD but did start researching possible accommodation for my trip away to south west Wales in July.
Yee not-olde Premier Inne is an obvious, easy, if boring option, but that gives me a benchmark to shop around against 😊
Nice quiet evening watching Shadow and B0ne whilst Mr KK did modelling in the dining room 😊
D’you remember when I was between jobs I joined U3a for a bit to get into tai chi classes …? Well I I have received a U3a magazine in the post this evening even though I think my membership should have lapsed by now …? 🤷♀️😊 It will be interesting to see if I get much from it 😊

Thanks @beanielou, @PennysIntoPounds 😊
Civilised day today 😊
Managed to sleep late this morning 👏
Washing on and went out to see the lady that originally recruited me to the parish council. There are splinter groups happening and we are not following full process for things like the minutes … 🙄 A re-set is needed.Came home, put the next load on. Went out again with library books for swopping and a return I needed to do.Dropped the library books and their damp paper bag at the library….
Went to post office and managed to send back the wrong sized shoes dirt catcher that I bought aaaages ago 👏
Pounced on four multipacks of xtra strong mints in Sainsbergs for Mr KK - unfindable anywhere else atm!Bought some brush ended felt tips for my friend who has started drawing again 😊
Went to country market and treated myself to a jar of Seville marmalade and bought a small Victoria sponge cake for my friend.Back to library, chose some new books and recovered the paper bag which had dried out by this time.Got home again and threw washing around, had a chill on the sofa and then wrapped friend’s presents.Quick lunch and headed out to see friend. She’s doing better than I thought she might be. It sounds like it was a horrendous break (parallel, not across the bone) - she doesn’t know exactly what they’ve done and what new metal she has, but she has a scar on her hip and scars on the outside of her leg just above the knee as well! 😳 Being left in the cold, on concrete, for 5 hours before they got an ambulance to her, really did her no good at all and she has nerve damage in her shoulder as a result and had to have two transfusions when in hospital due to all the internal bleeding … I think all of that added huge amounts of trauma and damage to what was already a grim experience. However, she’s doing okay. Currently living in a friend’s house with four cats and a small dog - I got cwtches from the dog and the big male cat ❤️ She loved the cake (it was a proper HM one 😊) and she also loved the books, felt tips and socks 😊 She is hoping to be able to go home within a month. She’s starting to move around with a frame.
Whilst I was there she lent me some mushroom balm for my jaw / teeth. I have been having sore teeth for weeks now but it’s not toothache - it moves around too much. It’s getting to the point now that painkillers are not easing the pain anymore. The stuff she lent me is said to calm nerve pain - I smoothed it on my jaws and the joint at the back of my face, and the pain stopped dead! It eased it for several hours, even with the temperature changes of going in and out of the house etc (which have been a common trigger). I have now ordered some of my own!

Your poor friend - sounds awful but glad she on the mend..
never heard of mushroom balm !!DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
