Oh I know KK, doesn't matter what you do sometimes and I always feel like I've failed the employee and the mangager when it happens but really it isn't up to you (or to HR) to prop anyone up if they no longer have the capability to do the role regardless of the managers support. Such a difficult situation for all concerned.

I think (and you know that's a qualified experienced think on this subject at least) that you have absolutely done the right thing, informal helpful and supportive before the formal do this or the consequence is. Not nice but potentially fair, reasonable and legal.

Sorry about your wedding experience that sounds horrific.

On the PM - I hated doing them too - but they are unfortunately common and often needed. Definitely view it was you tried the informal approach first but when that didn't yield the required results - you are now going with a documented action plan to support them to improve their performance and to understand what is required. They either rise or they don't -that's on them not you.

    Blimey, that's quite a day.
So basically the person under you is a lying workshy scrounger, and the person over you is a quasi sociopath who is going to make everyone's lives a misery until you do what he says and actual workers laws can get stuffed.
    Time for a new job?!

Well done for getting out and voting, and how brilliant to be able to have a shower in your own home!

    Friday tomorrow me dear x
