@PennysIntoPounds, hard to know with Mr KK. He’s quite close about it all. I occasionally ask, if it seems appropriate, but he doesn’t seem to have any feelings much, iyswim. He did a lot of grieving as his dad’s dying was happening. I am still keeping an eye on it for anniversaries etc.Whereas his mum was entirely focused in keeping FiL well as long as possible (not even comfortable, more well) and is really struggling now. Often when Mr KK goes round there she cries - it’s the little things she ‘trips over’ - like it was FiL who would spend hours waiting with a air rifle to shoot the rats up by the shed at the top of their little garden, or change the flags. She has to have bait boxes now and Mr KK changes the flags. I think she is missing having someone to talk to (more at, in truth) and I wonder if there is a touch of guilt, as FiL aged far faster than she did and she wasn’t as nice as could have been to him in his final years due to frustration. Not abusive - just used to get cross with him or talk about him in front of him because he was deaf. Bit petty really. In all honesty I have always struggled with her because of her general low level behaviour and what she did to me on my wedding day. I get hurt by people like her, so I stay defended and at a distance. Which makes it weird as she responds so well when I do step in.
@LadyWithAPlan, trust me, I have absolutely pointed out to the neighbours that our garden is not dog proof (why would it be) and there is a fast road close by ….
Mr KK thinks the dogs may have trashed the big pond’s liner. I sincerely hope not as that will be a horrific job to change and cost the neighbours a LOT for a new liner …. I will have a look this evening.

Now I am wondering what happened on your wedding day!!
Hope the liner is OK.DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

It was enough - suffice it to say if what happened to me had happened in a different context with different people I would have reported it to the police as assault. It wouldn’t have led to a prosecution but probably a formal warning. I have never felt the same about Mr KK’s mother or sister ever since …

Now I have images of you in a headlock while the sister tried to keep you away from the ceremony.
I had been invited to this particular family wedding (DH's side) but DH was going to be away, and I figured I was booked to be the main interval entertainment - trying to keep track of 4 boys under 8 in a very posh Chester wedding hotel, while everyone else enjoyed themselves- (ooooh, look at that poor 🐄 with all those kids! on her own!!!) so I politely declined, but then the groom's family stepped in .... Long pockets, short arms, every one of them. But calling the police and trying to get someone arrested during the festivities (out of jealousy ) was a new low. They then walked off with the cake boards, cake stands, pillars, dowels and hand made flower decorations from the wedding cake table. 🤣 I don't think there is any coming back from that. Well done for rescuing Mr KK from them. A true humanitarian act. You rock!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

It was after the ceremony when they got me on my own outside the church. They came up to me together and I thought they wanted to say something or hug me, but instead they both grabbed me at once, one at the front, one at the back and rammed their hands down inside my bodice, front and back with handfuls of big, hard rice paper hearts (about the size of a 50p). They then just walked off without saying a word. It was absolutely horrible. I was upset but Mr KK hadn’t seen what they did and behaved like I was making a fuss about nothing. So I had to get on with hosting the rest of the day in a really tight bodice (the seamstress had made it really tight In spite of me asking her to make it a bit slacker) with these hard, stiff things digging into me all day, until I could finally take the dress off at 8pm at the evening do.It sounds trivial on one level, but it was the way they did and none of us have ever spoken of it since. Flipping odd. If it ever does come up in a conversation with either of them, I suspect that I will blow ….

That was assault. As I know to my cost placing hands on another person without their consent is assault and one can be arrested for that and spend many long hours in a police cell. (the ex had me arrested for this).
I am so sorry that happened to you, and on your wedding day. How horrible.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!3 -
Did someone drop them on their heads when they were babies? That is seriously weird. I mean you are not an exploding parcel 📦 you have to have a good relationship with the bride to be touching her boobs at a wedding. I take it you don't have that sort of relationship with them? Mr KK is definitely a rescue.
I am surprised you haven't put a light coating of sand in their bed sheets over the years, or itching powder in their holiday suitcase (for the next time they use it) .... but then I really am not a forgiving type of person....4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
