Thanks @cheerydaff, @f0xh0les, @beanielou, @Brie, @LadyWithAPlan 😊
Chloe did the same thing the next night! Mr KK went out looking for her and when he found her and tried to pick him up, she resisted scratchily, the point he admitted defeat and said he’d been savaged! 😂😂
They have had freedom for three nights now and keep reappearing so I think we are okay to let them ‘go’. One side benefit is no litter trays to deal with in the mornings!Mr KK has drilled a hole in the ceiling of the bathroom and messed around with the roof tiles to get the air vent in. It needs joining up before sparky comes on Tuesday, but he will aim to do that tomorrow morning when the roof space should be a bit cooler.
I have been paid (and paid off my CC) but not done my money shuffles for the month yet. Will aim to do tonight. Mr KK is going to have a ’night off’ and play with his gear box this evening and we are both aiming to have another week eating down stocks as it made such a difference to our grocery costs last week.Mortgage application stuff rumbles on. Got the deed witnessed by neighbours and it is ready to drop in the post box this morning as I go to work.KKAs at 15.08.25:

I have done my Will. I considered it cruel not to. It makes life a lot harder for those you leave behind especially if unmarried. Even when married some people try to crawl out the woodwork and make a claim. Get it done - it's a kindness.
On my list for 2 years plus is a POA. Feel free to remind me about that.
Hope you are OK.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks @beanielou and @savingholmes 😊I’ve woken today with a head cold and sore throat but feeling more cheerful than I have in weeks 😊 You don’t realise how crushing a low level depression is until it stops! This always happens when I anm fighting off a bug - as soon as it ‘breaks’ and I start getting symptoms I start feeling mentally better.Much to do today, but I will aim to do all of it smiling! 🙂

POA, on the other hand, was for me more important. I primarily deal with finances and paperwork in our house, and while Mr Cheery is not incapable, if I ended up mentally incapacitated for whatever reason, I want to make his life as easy as possible - want him to be able to access all bills, finances etc easily, and to be able to make care decisions for me. Most things are joint, but not everything, but I absolutely don't want to add to the complication if I'm still alive but in need of care - likely a very distressing situation for him. If anything's happened to him, my sister is back up attorney, and again, I want it to be less complicated.
For me, that was more important than what happens when I'm dead - that can be done more slowly and with less urgency. As I said, our situation is quite uncomplicated if we die intestate though, and I appreciate it won't be for others!
Of course, nobody else around me has done their POA yet, so I myself would be left with a mess if anything happened to them, but hey ho 🙄😂 Mostly they haven't done wills either- my mum's will still says that me and my sister (now in our 40s) should be looked after by our grandparents (now deceased) 🙄😂3 -
We are also married with no children, so I suspect that a POA is as important as a will for us. We will get to it. Not atm though, need to stop tearing the house apart! 😉
Speaking of which, today we have:
- ripped up the bathroom flooring
- removed bath panel, all skirting and architrave
- packed up all of the above, the rubble from hanging the window, the old window, most of the packaging for the bathroom units and took the whole lot to the tip in the van, for the very first time of using the van! 😊
- had various discussions about possible location of new items in the bathroom, their orientation etc,
Mr KK has also re affixed the starter motor to the Bedford 😊👏
I have also:
- watered everywhere, a lot
- trimmed the hazel back so the Bay treelet doesn’t feel the need to lean forward quite so much 😊
- done various domestic virtuousnesses 😇
- 6 rows of knitting whilst watching Queen Charlotte on n3tfl1x - a lot better than Bridgey actually
- dried 4 loads of washing outside
- used up various ‘end of life’ food items in a really tasty for lunch 😊
- ordered two scarves for my mum’s birthday 😊🎁 as well as picking up brown paper and tape for posting as a pretty card for her 😊
- done all my financial updates and sent £236 off as an OP 😊 Also set up a savings pot for our wedding anniversary trip in 2026 😊
- updated my signature
- texted my serious gardening friend, who I have not seen in months, to see if she would have time to see me during my week off 🤞
Currently sat on the sofa with Mr KK watching Glasto 😊 It’s been a good day 😊
