you have to work to what you feel is right, but I have always replaced promptly for my wellbeing.  The worst one was my first cat as an adult - a kitten I lost on a quiet road at six months old, her playmate searched the house and cried because he missed her and every time he cried, I cried.

    Your garden looks so pretty!

I think when it comes to filling the house with animal again after a loss, there's no right time, just the right time for you. Some people turn up to us with the new one less than a week after we said goodbye to the last one, some take years, and none of them are wrong.

I hope there's someone suitable for you when you go!

We chose the noisiest / friendliest one - however he carried on being noisy when he came home which for some reason was a shock. We replaced very soon after a similar situation to you. I've had him nearly 5 years now.

Inviting new animals into the family is such a difficult thing.    Wattydog came in too soon for me but right for the ex, all the new horses have arrived when the time is right but the young Fell pony a mixed bag.  As soon as he was here I knew it was too soon for a fell pony as I had lost my darling FoggyFell 3 years before and seeing another little grey fell pony over the stable door made me miss him so much and the youngster was such a thug and kept biting me that I was very tempted to sell him on.  I didn't and it turned out to be a great thing.  The young fell is still an odd character but his charm at keeping the others company has been a gift over the last 18 months of equine illnesses

I cannot imagine life without a cat though.  There is something about being owned by a cat.

Good luck in your search  (are you sure they don't have an appointment today?)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
