I am returned! And what a relief.Funeral was beautifully done - my cousin was both a drama student and an events organiser for a while so she inevitably did it well 😉 Wicker coffin with really wild and free looking flowers. Beautiful music - soprano soloist for Ave Maria (I blubbed), small choir with warm bass to lead a really gentle arrangement of Over The Rainbow (I blubbed) and a tenor for Nat Cole’s Smile which was the recessional piece (I really blubbed). My reading went okay - I fluffed one word but overall it was lovely. The wake was held in the restaurant close to my aunt and uncle’s flat where we went for lunch in the October before my uncle died the following spring - kind of bitter-sweet for me. They looked after us well and there was good food a veggie could eat. My dad was there - it seemed strange seeing him - I’m not quite sure how I am his daughter, but we were civil and chatted about this and that. I think it didn’t help that I was so shattered by the service (I think I was grieving for everything else happening in my life atm) and yet he was (as always) so unmoved. We were inevitably somewhat discordant in mood. I needed peace, he was ready to socialise and make merry.Saw lots of relatives, some of whom I haven’t seen in ages. I was actually pretty honest about how naff things have been for both of us with some of them, and to the last they were kind about it. Many of them asked after Mr KK and wanted me to convey their good wishes to him ❤️Did 17K steps across which is pretty much 3x what I would do on a work day and then did a three hour drive back, where the car behaved impeccably all the way, thankfully! Got to bed late and woke to the birds at 5.30am so feel a bit bus flattened and sore this morning - soooo glad I don’t have to go to work!It was lovely to see my cousin and her young family in their home, how they live etc. I get a real sense of who they are and I find I like them 😊 My cousin is still terrifying 🤷♀️😉 but I think I bring her enough value to be worth having around in the future. 😊
Apologies to all that live there, but oh my, London is such hard work …. I have a £65 parking ticket I must pay today as I didn’t move my car quite enough to get into the right parking zone take advantage of the space the airbnb booked for me - so complicated! I suspect it becomes normal if you live there, but it brings so many extras layers of complexity and limited people space etc. I am resolved to NEVER, ever take a car to London again ….. Beyond me. 😉Plans for the day are loose - to a degree I will see what I feel like doing but I’d like to:
- pay my parking fine (gets it over and done with)
- start the car buying process go to two garages to have a look at what they have in my price range and what they’d offer me for part-ex
- get some washing done
- change the water filter / clean the jug.
Those things are probably the most pressing.KKAs at 15.08.25:

Glad the funeral went well, sounds like a lovely service. What a shame about your dad, but I'm glad the other relatives were all supportive, and it sounds like you have a good relationship with your cousin.
Hope you have a relaxing and restorative day today xx1 -
