Struggling somewhat atm. Woke up this morning feeling very dark and ‘what’s the point’, dreading the day etc. I had the usual mad day ahead after a bad night’s sleep.I had a meeting yesterday afternoon with my boss and HR about the annual salary reviews - I wasn’t involved or consulted on what my team would get and three of them need more, one especially. Two are likely to go through okay and the other is more difficult but we will see what we can do.We then moved onto my annual pay rise - my pay rise this year is c. 1/3 less than inflation, less than the rest of the management team, the shopfloor and what all of my team will get. I was genuinely hurt by this and angry that my boss hadn’t actually had the courtesy to tell me and I had found out from an emailed letter sent at the same time that the really underpaid person on my team got theirs and then inevitably ‘took it out on’ me!Tbh, once I started telling my boss all this, I couldn’t stop and I ended up reminding him that I had said at interview that I would struggle with the transition into a huge global company and would need support - and received none. That I have told him frequently that I need positive not just constructive feedback as I need to feel valued and I need him to tell me that. It went on and on. He looked a bit shell shocked. It was important and a bit cathartic but in many ways it took me back to summer last year which was when things started getting very dark for me. It was exhausting. He came up to me a few times today in the open plan office and each time, I smiled and said “Is it a nice thing? I’m only doing happy things today!” He carried on and it wasn’t too bad.HR don’t understand why he has done what he’s done with my pay rise, nor does my closest friend on the management team. They both said, but you’ve done so much else! (His justification is that I failed to deliver one task last year.)
Anyway, I have had my say. It’s done. I have now finished work for 10 days!! So looking forward to getting past the funeral on Monday and then maybe things will stop being quite so turgid and grim?Boiler fixed this evening - we’ve been waiting in this for c. 4 months! 🙄
New load of firewood delivered and stacked between us.

Thanks @beanielou x
He doesn’t mean any harm but he’s worked in different branches of the same organisation for nearly 40 years. I think he’s institutionalised ….

Sooooo …. I broached the conversation with Mr KK about getting another cat at the end of dinner, expecting him to say, “Noooo, not yet” etc. But no. He’s already been looking! 😂🤩❤️😊
We both agree that there is no replacing the Floof, but we both find the house too quiet and ‘not quite right’ without a cat. I struggle in the mornings when I get up to an empty house and he struggles in the evenings when he comes home to an empty house …
Also, everything has been so relentlessly grim for both of us since Christmas that we just want something nice to happen 😊
We will get another rescue from the same place as Floof. They have viewing sessions on Saturday afternoons so perhaps we will be able to go on Easter Saturday….? 😊
