We are about to get off the ship now after our week away, it’s been quite hectic as we have tried to squeeze in a few trips. We actually managed to visit three separate aquariums 😂 just happened to be nearby where we were going. Yesterday we went to Cherbourg and visited a fantastic naval museum next to the docks and went on a nuclear submarine which was so interesting.
The ship has felt busy to be honest and the food a little hit and miss but generally what you get for the price is amazing.

This week the had the launch of the late 2028 season itineraries onboard and extra credit available for booking while here, we looked, decided no and then got a leaflet through that evening with an even bigger discount. So we booked a 30 night trip to the USA and Canada for a couple of years time rather on the spur of the moment 😱 it’s a £50 deposit each so not the end of the world if we have to cancel.

After discounts (and if I knock off the credit given) it’s £122.26 per night each, I’m not putting the total figure as it’s too big and scary 🤣 so I guess that is the new challenge to work towards.

Spending wise it’s been very low for this trip as drinks were included - we won’t do that again it’s a waste, we spent about £70 in all on entrance fees and sweets to take back, plus postcards for the fridge everywhere we went. I don’t get souvenirs anymore.

Glad you had a nice trip 30 days wow that is a long one hopefully it will encourage your OH to give up on work or at least slow down. Sounds like good value for money too if you think of it as full board and includes travel.

It’s a vast amount to spend on a trip 😱 We have always thought we wanted to do a long cruise at some point but that it would be further down the line. It is a LOT of sea days and we could do a trip their independently and see more but I kind of like the idea of some quiet relaxation time together, we have never had a lot of time alone together until recently and thats nice when theres no work or family distractions, I will have to take up crochet or something to take with me.

Mil is home from hospital while we were away, older brother is stressed with the situation (he’s visited once!) and messaged dh while we were away to say he can’t cope and has quit his job too 😳 no idea what will happen now. Dh will be going this morning to see how they are, little brother said after three weeks apart by day two Mil amd Fil were shouting at each other again 🫣 families!

The finances look ok, I’ve a bit to last for food until the 4th when I can use the cc again, but dh is away working from Monday so I won’t need much hopefully even though the fridge is bare, I am meeting friends for a coffee and catch up first thing so I shall pop to @ldi for some basics. Also need to post another vinted parcel, I’ve sold a couple of things recently. Clothes wise I have not been great with my challenge, I’ve sold so much and also received a few vouchers for my birthday so although I haven’t spent “real” money, I have still bought too many clothes. So a change is needed, plus I really want to try and lose more weight. I’m overall about half a stone down from my heaviest in the last few years, I think I’d like to lose at least a stone more to feel better. Anyway I think a no clothes for three months (to start!) challenge is in order.

Off to do yet more washing now, I’ve woken up to a thick victorian style mist this morning, hopefully it clears and heats up 😊

Do you think being 'stressed' about his parents and quitting his job are actually nothing to do with each other? Sounds, to me, like he's stressed about something else in his life. If he moves into accommodation near them and starts spending time with them every day to make the most of them while they are still around plus being some practical help, then we'll know I was wrong however I won't be holding my breath 😁

Tbh I don't think its a lot of money you are spending on the cruise. Its a month living there, using all their facilities and having all the food you could ever want plus stopping at some lovely places. A few years ago we looked at a fortnight in Orlando and it was going to be 7grand for the 2 of us flights and hotel. No food, no entertainment, 2 weeks.

You will enjoy the time together and doing separate things on your sea days and the month will whizz by. Lovely to have it to look forward to for the next wee while

Ooh, that's a good point - think how much money you'll save by not being at home!

Hi Daisy, no I can’t see Bil moving nearby 😆

I remember daydreaming about taking the kids to Florida when they were small and it was something like £12K and that was a long time ago! Holidays used to seem so much cheaper, as a teen away with friends to Greece or Ibiza we would eat out every night and party until dawn on barely any money, now a meal away (just like at home) is something to consider and research first.

SC hopefully it will save a few pennies, so yes I shall frame it as a moneysaving exercise 🤣

Dh is off away this week, the weekend was stressful 😩 I think I’m tired from being away - it sounds daft but I’m up later than usual, eating late, going out and about and I think it catches up with you. Dh had to go and look after his parents as there are not enough carers to cover little brother having the weekend somewhere else 😳 I don’t blame him don’t get me wrong but this stuff should be sorted first. More carers are now coming , especially at weekends so going forwards its better. FIl has refused a stairlift, Mil cant walk upstairs now so Dh has told him if he won’t he can go in a home, brutal I know but its not safe.

Plans for today are to take mum to the shops and do some cleaning, Dh is away for the week now so I’m home alone except for the girls and they just sleep all day and run around all night, so are not much company 😂

Glad DH is staying firm that is just stupid to refuse a stairlift. Agree it is not safe as soon as an elderly person breaks anything it is usually only going one way sadly. Hope the carers gets sorted.
