I’m exhausted, yesterday was friends 50th at the daytime club that was at the Roxy in Soho. It was a fun day but as expected pretty hard to sit down, although I did manage a few sit downs 😆 but it was dancing for nearly five hours 😱 money spent was not horrendous, £56 on lunch for mine and half of the birthday girls, then £26.40 on two cocktails and a water in the club. It wasn’t really rounds as best friend had a bottle and the other two girls were getting through the cocktails quick, so I just bought them one each and only had a couple of waters myself. So plus tube a total of £90.25 on the day and £25 for mine and half of friends ticket beforehand. I’d put by £60 a while ago for this which I knew wasn’t enough, the rest has come from personal spending. That’s the last of the spendy birthday days out for us now. I use to go drinking and clubbing as a teen all the time, how on earth did I used to afford it?!Today dh said he’s at work but is fed up as a machine broke yesterday so is now not going and hanging around waiting for me to decide what we should do 😂 he has mentioned a trip to his parents so I’m wondering if I’m “too tired” for that and he should go alone 🙄 I suppose I should go if he does really……I’ve have tons of washing, including some that’s still in the machine from yesterday as I forgot to hang it out before I went out then dh forgot to hang it out when he got home after I asked him. The weather has just been a nightmare so I’ve an overflowing basket now waiting to be done, hopefully next week will be brighter 🌞MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5

The Young Farmers club I was in had a huge sign for their summer barbecue/disco on the bypass yesterday. I remember being able to go out to those do's with something like £15 - having gone to the pub first, got my entrance ticket, and buying pints at the do. Gee them were the days...... although I don't miss the portaloos! 🤣
We've had poor weather and the washing has built up - despite the wonderful gains in previous weeks. I didn't think I was going to get anything washed yesterday, but the weather forecast was wrong 🙄

Be too tired! Hi Greying, £15 for a big night out sounds good! 😆
Hi Daisy, neither of us went on the end 🙄 I ended up picking dd up and taking her for a mum and daughter brekkie at the garden centre, then dh, myself and ds2 /dil went to one of the towns near their new flat to have a look, I’d been once before and it’s only about 25 mins from where I’ve lived all my life 😆 very nice indeed. We decided on a drive through it first of all because they wanted to get back to watch the rest of a tv series with me before they move out, but then we spotted a sp00ns so parked up after dh offered get us all lunch 😁 just under £40 spent on four dinners and drinks. The place was pretty empty too which is unusual, the one in York (understandably) is packed all the time.Today is completion day for ds2, they still need to decorate and order the carpet before they can move in, but it won’t be long. I’ve bought a few odd bits yesterday they might need, only cheap micro fibre cloths things like that, not a full set of cleaning stuff. I did forget to get a card and drinks though, so will pop to sainsbugs after the hospital then gym today to get some Prosecco and alcohol free beer and probably a plant for the kitchen 😬 I’ve been spending on the grocery card for these bits which should be just for food as I’m quite broke at the moment 😩
Warning Xmas related! - I have also started buying bits to put away for Xmas, the money is from the Xmas pot of course, but I spent ages watching tv in bed last night while mooching on the n@xt clearance section. It appears it gets added to all the time as there’s different bits today. Got some nice Xmas themed bath sets for less than half price , a pink perfume set £11 and a pink hat and scarf set for £7, fluffy Xmas socks for £2. It’s all the kind of bits I would buy anyway as top up presents, nice quality though hopefully and much cheaper. I usually get a few Xmassy stocking filler bits for the kids, but it’s mainly books and vintage things. It’s impossible to choose for them now they are adults, so it’s a bit of cash and a few stocking fillers and choccies.Anyway, I’m still in bed which I’ve no right to be, as I’m at hospital soon!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4 -
Hi Newgirly seems to have a lot going on but congrats on the completion will be so exciting for them to move into their first home. I do have to say as much is Next is nice who needs Xmas themed bath mats? KItchen towels maybe but mats surely that is just a step too far I have never decorated my bathroom before.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Hi TallGirl, it’s a bath product set rather than bath mats 😬 bubble bath, fizzers that sort of thing, although some years I’ve gone over the top with the Xmas decor, I’ve not gone that far yet 😆
Well they got the keys and dh and I have just got back from visiting the new flat , I was there for a while helping measure up and just working out what they need to do and buy. Ds2 seems surprised there’s so much to know and sort out getting a property, why has nobody taught him this he wonders, luckily his wife is a little more practical 🤣 They are over the moon that outside the spare room they have a Juliet balcony and lots of trees shielding them from the road and they have spotted a nest with pigeon chicks and mum sat there on top. I’m ds2’s words they have hit the jackpot, so sweet 😊

Glad re the new house purchase is going welll for DS2.
i still go clubbing but I do think when one is younger, more drinks are free and you would drink before you went into a venue.DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Oh dear Greying , that doesn’t sound great 😆
Today I was out and about with DIL, her dad came to the big blue and yellow store with us, had a breakfast and then spent ages looking at stuff and she bought the big tv unit they wanted. Then i dropped them back to his car at ours , they went off to see the flat while I went to various places to get parcels, prescriptions, cat food , frozen food for a couple of days easy dinners as we are at the flat on and off until late. Then back to collect Dil again and off to the diy store for paint testers, back to the flat to try them out then home, I am soooo tired 😆
A couple of the parcels I got from n3xt were a little damaged so I’m returning them as they are for Xmas presents, but most was really nice! I’ll keep an eye out for more bits being added onto the website just incase. The only clothing item bought was a very heavy zip up fur lined hoodie for dh, he bought one last year and wore it everyday to work through the winter (thus ruining it for anything else) it was about £25 from a clothes stall at the bootsale (he doesn’t really buy clothes 😆) this one is much nicer, and was £20 reduced from £55- I’ll put it away for his birthday in September.I’m just about to check the accounts, I know I’ve overspent and may need to steal a bit in advance from the nationwide members £100 we get soon. I’ve got to cover the Father’s Day bits, a bottle of bubbly for a friend who has got engaged, moving in bubbly, chocs and card, plus a fair few cleaning bits for the flat as I’m out and about. Oh plus I treated myself to a succulent at ikea for £7 as I fancied it 🙂MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁7
