Thanks SC and Ramouth, I will have a look at those suggestions. I will probably book for later in the year maybe for dh’s birthday in September so hopefully it will be cheaper and I’ll feel better 😬
Awake at 4am again and dh has clearly gone to work at some unpleasant hour, he must be shattered as he’s been moving ds1’s things in and building furniture all weekend and of course they are on the second floor 😆
My personal spending money has taken a battering as I paid for mine and two friends brunch in Friday, they have been so supportive I wanted to say thank you, then dd took me out for breakfast yesterday so I paid £25 towards that. £53.22 left now which is a usual balance at this time of the month.
The healthy eating is going well, I’ve cut down on snacks and have more “real” food, it’s annoying when preparing food is still a bit difficult and I don’t want to keep relying on dh or others, I am sure when I feel better I can throw myself into being much better in the kitchen and save money by preparing more myself, I want to spend on nice ingredients rather than convenience. Still waiting for DiL to build the pallet herb garden she wanted to do, so I’ve supermarket herbs in the kitchen at the moment instead, but they don’t last long, the tomato plants are doing well though. I might have to give her a nudge this week and see if she’s up for a trip to the garden centre for some cucumber plants and compost 😊 I fancy some courgettes but as ds2 pointed out I’m the only one who really likes them, I will probably ignore him as usual though 😁MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁3 -

Haha, ok sc although mine might get big too 😂 I’ve never tried courgette soup before, wouldn’t have thought to make that to be honest but if we have courgettes I will try!Back to hospital today for four different appointments but most importantly a last (hopefully) follow up with the surgeon after another echo scan, hopefully it will put my mind at rest as heart rate still jumps around sometimes which I know is common but still feels unnerving!Dh is driving for the first time as I can’t do the train, Dads friend has a parking space nearby so he is dropping me and trying to park, it’s not an a easy area to navigate so I may be going to appointments alone if he gets lost, there’s no hospital car park and only a bus lane outside. We are borrowing mums car as he refuses to drive my old banger so far 😆MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁3

Good luck with appointments 🤞 ❤
Soup is just onion chopped, stock, courgettes sliced, a potato chopped. Heat it all up, smush it with a potato masher or blender as you like it. Yum. It freezes well too, so its an easy way to use up a glut when courgettes ripe and eat them in the winter.

Both of those recipes sound good 😊
Back from my hospital day and the heart is good but the dodgy heart rate should have cleared up by now, so I’m getting referred to a different specialist. They have cut one of my medications which may help, otherwise it could be another surgical procedure worst case but not as bad as open heart surgery though of course, clear one hurdle and over the next I guess! Trying not to get ahead of myself regarding how much it might cost, I think we would have to pay for further treatment.Went to bed when I got home so not much to report 😆 I’ve realised my £95 Tesco hotel voucher runs out in 13th June 😩 hopefully that means tomorrow not today. I’ve wasted ages looking what to book and I think it might be a night on dh’s birthday weekend, perhaps in Long melford Suffolk, it’s not too far then. Do I go on a Saturday which is better but twice the price or Sunday which the voucher covers. Either way we would have a lovely roast dinner which is my main aim when booking weekends away 😆MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4 -
Given the potential additional treatment costs, maybe the Sunday as it’ll be covered by the voucher? Long Melford is lovely ☺️Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I think you might be right Vix, it’s so much cheaper! I’ve not been since I was in primary school and went to Kentwell hall where you had to dress up and mum made me a peasant dress from her old curtains 😆
Best friend is taking me for our usual Thursday morning toast and shop today, first one for a while, I won’t be doing too much I but can’t wait!

Oops where have the last six days gone, I didn’t realise I’d not popped by for that long!Feeling better all the time now, still not got the heart rate normal yet so seeing a specialist next week. Started rehab Monday and back again today, hard work but very worth it for a confidence boost alone 🙂
The mortgage is getting an extra op as dh has taken some money out of the business and we are paying an extra £3000 off the mortgage, I’ve played with the spreadsheet and with the extra he put in before, we are at April 2025 instead of June 2025, however if I can find and extra £100 pm we can knock it back to March- the month I turn 50 😬 so I shall attempt to have everything but personal spends budget of £500pm instead of £600.
Hopefully when I’m recovered a bit more I can start cooking again, dh has been cooking for himself and I’ve been having either “healthy” ready meals or salads and jacket potatoes. I did have a spending splurge yesterday with dil, I’d planned to get some plants before the heart surgery, so finally we went out and got some, bought a lot of half price wilted ones form b and q , including herbs and a big bamboo for £17.50, then to the garden centre for a few fresh looking petunias and a gorgeous tall jasmine, and a scented rose, I think I spent just over £100 in total 😱 but we got £200 from the nationwide so I don’t feel too bad 🙂 if I can enjoy the garden when annoying neighbour is out it’s well worth it and as a bonus dil is doing all the hard work 😁MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁9
